I had a timetable, so could work out when the train would arrive... giving me a few minutes to 'set up'. I stayed on, hoping to catch the train on the way back, but the light returned to 'gloomy'. But I got chatting to a guy flying a drone, with video camera. Amazing to watch the drone's progress (on his iPad), as he explored the line to the north. If he lost touch with the drone, it was programmed to return to him of its own accord! Neat...

DJI Mavic Pro... on my wishful thinking birthday list....

It's actually a true story. They didn't realise it went back to the original point rather than when the controller has moved to on a ship.
2 DJI phantoms in the drink.

Any idea where precisely? :)

Atlantic Ocean. As we service the military I hear all sorts of stories. Some I could never repeat!

Mate we are talking about the love of my life, the love of my life who picked me up from a Placebo concert and brought me a Prodigy CD for the car on the way home... if she went to buy a Porsche (959 yea no way she would get a classic like that!) If she went to buy a porsche she would probably pick a panamera!

You'd have to sell your expensive Sony gear and buy one of those cheap Nikons ;)

Somewhere at sea?

Cheers :)

Hugh

It it was Tilbury docks you could have gone and scooped them up with your net, or sent Sam in to get one.

Placebo and Prodigy that takes me back. I used to have a 959 clock on my wall as a kid.

959 claim to fame... first production car capable of 200+ wasnt it... with that glorious wing on the back...

Not sure even a £1000 drone would survive the Thames - certainly not the jaws of a large black dog !

Cheers :)

I think it was the wing I liked. I had a cosworth type wing on my Renault 11. Absolute pain. Couldn't see out the back and it was too heavy for the boot struts so it wouldn't stay open.

Well... to be honest, I took a few shots of this location. I tried standing up, crouching down, moving backwards or forwards, and this in my opinion was the best of the bunch. Mainly because I was showcasing the sky, and the green part actually became the edge of the field and a road had I gone backwards any more.
It's nice of you all to comment and discuss this photo; it makes me think more about what I'm doing - thanks :)
I will be going back in a couple of weeks when the daffodils are in full bloom, and I expect the angle of view to change again.

By the way, the term 'demi-god' refers to people who support this forum through subscriptions, not to mean any particular experience in photography. I only picked up a DSLR and started trying to learn seriously 3 years ago, so I'm still very much in my infancy.

Cheers :)

Personally, I think the framing with the sliver of foreground at the bottom is brilliant as it added a little bit of additional drama to the shot. All very subjective of course but I like to see people exploring composition away from the norm if it appears to be for a good reason.

Case in point...I think his shot of Sam (what a beautiful old guy!) could benefit from deviating from the rule of thirds in the same manner.

Another Sam photo from his birthday, this time with a much older lens ...
