The good news after this outing is wife said "why don't you get yourself a decent lens for wildlife...not $10,000, but decent". Looks like a 200-600mm is in my future (not the 600mm prime!), and don't have to severely crop a 200mm like this one.

You will love Sony's 200-600mm!!! It really is a fantastic lens and the price is more than reasonable for what one gets. It works very well with a 1.4x TC, too. Enjoy!
