Nice shot - that car would be a Lincoln Town Car. I remember riding on one some years ago. I asked for a taxi and the Hilton arranged for a limousine instead. Lots of roll and not very supportive rear seat - but the driver was efficient and friendly.
Sure looks like a Lincoln Town Car . They're real popular as limos .

Ah right, thanks guys!
Some of the taxi drivers in NYC are crazy :p

Beatufull scenery in old Quebec city. Did you go in the chapel that was right behind you ?

Yeah it was so nice down there, I didn't go in but here's a picture of it. :)

Stained Glass ice

Having never seen anything like this in person, is it safe with all that cracking? I'd be dubious to step out there.

Being one who races around in shorts and barefoot nearly all year round, I don't know how you guys cope with that level of cold. Well, I know how Doylem does, warm beer and a hot fireplace! ;)

20 cm of ice is plenty. No worries about falling through.... Windy Lake is a big body of water. While we were trekking across the surface, the lake ice was constantly "singing" with cracks and pops as the ice covering moved. There was a jeep cherokee on the lake. When they moved, they opened ALL the doors. They did this in case they went through and in theory, the doors would prevent the whole truck from disappearing. Folks here are obligated to remove any vehicle that goes through the ice - if they survive. :) Your hot weather makes news in Canada... so too the burial of Ned Kelly. You can keep that hot weather right there ! Cheers. Mine for today, a pattern in the ice:

Man that is fascinating, we get frozen lakes and heavy snow but heck, 20cm of ice? Supporting a vehicle?! Wow! I would love to be able to see that! We have around 4-5 inch snow here now and it's chaos, laughable really!

Really like this shot.

Can't tell from the catchlight if it is a window or a big soft box? No fill as well? My dad and I have just split the money on a giant softbox so looking to emulate this sort of shot soon!

Is this with a tilt shift lens? I would say the OOF elements on the left are nice but as my eyes followed the bridge it starts to get blurry. At first I assumed long exposure and the bridge had "moved" but then I realised how impossible that would be! I wonder if there would have been a way to keep more of the right side of the image in focus.

Phrasikleia, this is one of my favorite photograph of yours from the latest batch that you've shared here. Even though the rocks in the foreground and reflections are stunning, what really catches my eye are the trees and wooded are in the middle ground. There's so much richness and detail right there!

Thanks, snyder7. All of the photos from "the latest batch" are older ones from my archives; it makes me feel as though I'm scraping the last bits of jam from the sides of the jar, but at least I'm finding things that I'm willing to share. :)

Love the combination of high and low clouds. The layers created by the atmosphere give a nice sense of depth.

This am Windy Lake, Ontario. -27C when we stepped on to the ice. -14 when we stepped off two hours later. Some freaky weather here !

Nice sastrugi in the snow. -27C is pretty cold, but with those temps come some worthwhile sights.

I like the correspondence between the shapes of the clouds and the hill (long, stretched out). Very dramatic light too, of course.

It's been a long time since I posted in one of these threads, I think my last post in a picture of a day thread was in the original one...

But anyway here's one from yesterday, taken at Abraham lake in the Canadian Rockies.

Thanks for the nice words. The blurring was due to using a tilt shift lens. I did not blur in post.

The 24mm tilt shift lens is an interesting animal. I used Nikon's version years ago but it was only shift then. You can do some usual stuff with these, especially if you have some experience with view cameras and the use of shift, tilt and swings.
I used to live in the Bay Area and I think that I may have taken a photo or two from the place where you shot yours. I like the light that you captured. What camera did you use, if I may be so bold to ask?
