Hi Bob... Your accordian player looks fine, except you've pressed the pink button too hard, and given the whole pic a pink cast...

Yeah, I thought it was a touch heavy at the time but at some point you've got to stop fiddling yourself and get some proper feedback from people who know. :)

Maybe tomorrows submission will be better....

I'll post the full-res one if anyone wants it. Unfortunately I decided not to shoot in RAW since I was going to be taking a lot of 1080p, 24p video, but it's still much larger than the one I posted.

My Canada Day Fireworks

Not quite as spectacular as what Vancouver puts on for a fireworks display but I'm in a small town. Still need to practice some more to get the really great shots but much better than last time I tried. Here goes.

... or else you'll go blind, presumably... ;)

Doylem is the expert on this forum :D :p

Taken at Datchet Fete on Saturday. I wish it was as good as the others on here though.

Welcome :) You've taken a nice photo there, interesting sharp subject, nice bohek, perhaps too magenta but comes down to personal preference imo. I like how you've included another anonymous figure in the scene, I think it adds well to the setting of the shot, and with the expression on the player's face looking over making it causes you to wonder and think about the surrounding events.

I went wandering around a Croatian port town a couple of evenings ago, looking for something to photograph. Found something...

I like how you've captured more than just the event - you've given the shot an interesting context whereby we are stepping back and observing the observers in an a unique environment, I think it communicates a lot more about the event, similar to when a short caption describing the background behind a photo is provided; a really great job P! Technically sharp as always from you, pleasing balance light, colour and tone.

I'm hoping to be back in the photography game this week if the insurance cheque actually comes in like our broker said it would....

I started a thread asking for advice on which lenses I should get for a D7000 if anyone is inclined to chime in with advice (or PM me...) [I know this isn't the place for that kind of talk...]

Thanks!

With a bit of patience, high speed shooting, my dad's old 30+ year old Soligor 70-220mm (with Pentax K to Canon mount adaptor) and about 120 shots, I managed to get this guy making his rounds.

Since the lens is so old, the EXIF is is wrong. f/11 and if where I left it is still correct, it was about 135mm.

There are a number of great photos this month. Here are a few of my favorites:

Rusty: I love it that you caught the "expression" on the viewer's "face." Great vision; seeing beyond the obvious.

TheDrift: I love her expression, the subtle coloring, and the softness of this portrait. I also like that there is room for her to look forward, but for me, though, there is too much empty space. You might want to consider cropping it; I'd like a "portrait" orientation more than the horizontal "Landscape" crop. Others may disagree ...

Very moving in it's simplicity. As we all enjoy celebrating our freedom, we should be thankful for the sacrifices of so many..."lest we forget." Cristian, thank you for reminding us.

Well said, Fcortese! I join my thanks to Cristian, for the reminder, and for the service.

Parkin Pig: Grace and beauty. Great timing! (Sorry, it's not showing your photo when I use the "quote" button.)

Phrasikleia: Yup, you definitely found something! And you shot it, well, too. Amazing colors and detail for what appears to be an evening performance. Very little movement in the crowd. I looked closely and I see "Action!" (Pun intended!) Love it!

Keleko: Nice job! Worth the time and effort! I like the movement of the wings, while everything else is nice and crisp. Great color, too! Even the sun cooperated! (How'd you manage that one?!?)

Also, Keleko:
Small lakes near Detroit: Ah, peace!
Sushi: Yum!

There are many other good and great ones as well. Keep up the good work, folks!
