A very wet weekend.

As always, comments appreciated!

Personally I would have hung back just a moment longer, or gotten a slightly lower vantage point so you didnt have to chop the poor lads feet off.

Mine for today is another from the fourth here in Vegas. We have been in the middle of monsoon season so the weather has been very crazy.

Red Arrows

Spent a very busy day shooting yesterday at an Air Show. I was fortunate enough to be the guest of the Red Arrows through work. Expect lots more of these as I go through my many shots.

This is the first one I have even tried to develop that I came across. Still really going through my first cull. BTW it's my first time of shooting high speed anything so go easy on me. A lot more misses than hits I'm sure.
Anyway comments welcome as always.

Thanks and you're absolutely right. I thought the same myself after I had posted it but was too lazy to go and crop it and upload it again. Here's a quick crop using Photoshop on my iPad.

I think this does work better!

Here was my camera seeing in the dark.

A large herd of elk are migrating from one mountain range over to another just north of here. I was able to capture this young buck in a small group of "cows." This is as close I could get with my 70-800 0n a 1.4 extender (picture cropped in post). I was about 200 yards away when they took note of me and began barking and bulging and moving into the tree line. Sure could have used one of Peter's longer lenses!

I like this. Not so much the religious overtones, but an interesting photo.
Thanks. I took a break from studying, looked down at one of my books and thought it might make an interesting photograph. Can't escape the religious overtones in my photography, I went to seminary, religious overtones are in my blood. :)

With a great context shot like this who needs a longer lens. Very well done Florian.

I agree. There is so much to like about this winner of a shot MacRy. I think it's your best subway shots.

So far I've gone from 2600 to around 1550 with loads more to go through on my first cull. Then I'll start being a bit more selective.

Lovely stuff - it's usual practice to leave some space in front of vehicles for them to move into, but that's completely unnecessary here as the smoke trails are more important than empty space - cracking shot AFB.

Thanks. As for where the space is its more luck than judgment at these speeds! I had plenty just out of frame. Because a lot of the sky was grey I liked the blue in this one.

I know exactly where you're coming from - I did an airshow once and it's a real test of your panning skills. You did the right thing though - keep that shutter rattling away and you're bound to end up with a few good ones.

Gorgeous! Absolutely gorgeous.

Thanks pezdaddy. I have to say that taking shots in the backyard with a cold beer in hand is a whole lot easier than humping gear around woods and marshes and over hill and dale. :)

Well done AFB...I love the the contrast of the smoke trails against the white clouds. Sounds like you enjoyed the day.
