... I lived for 25 years throughout Canada's Atlantic Provinces -- gazebo's on town and city squares were frequently found, much-enjoyed, center of attention sights. Thanks for posting your photo ... not sure where it was taken, but it sure depicts some fond and similar experiences.
 
Cottonwood turnleafs. It's mid August, this tree sits right along a river bank. There is no excuse for this midsummer display of false colors.

it’s actually mid-july but that probably only underscores your point. but stress—too much heat, too much or too little water—can also cause leaves to turn too early.
