After a lot of really good advice on one of the other boards I visit, yesterday's pic I posted was altered for more effect...I blurred the background biker and then cut him out where it made the most sense (he was too much of a distraction for what was going on in the foreground). You can see the original shot I submitted on yesterday's submitted pics (a page or so back).
Does it work for you?

I should have got up earlier, the mist was nearly gone...

I think it is an improvement over the first version. What I really like about this shot is the water splashing up in the foreground. What I don't like is the lack of color (and I'm a big fan of B&W images). Perhaps you chose to dump the color in order to bring out the water a bit more, but I'm left wondering how the shot would look in color, which means the B&W treatment doesn't quite work for me. The photo captures a scene of real dynamism, a quality that seems at odds with the quietness of B&W. I feel as though this shot should explode with both movement and color.
I like this one better as well. How did you get the background to be streaked like htat?
You need a cat with no boundaries. You can have mine. He routinely wakes me with the sun to get him a morning meal.
28 seconds of hand held exposure - very lucky shot.

I was lucky - it was a moonless night with a brief powercut because of the storm - so until the lightning struck at about 27 seconds there really wasn't much to cause any exposure. Normally a tripod is order of the day - but luck helps. Thanks for the comment BTWMighty steady hands... great shot. I've always wanted to try a lightning image.
The red is a great attention grabber IMO.

I vote for the color version, it just leaps out at you.
I have some minor quibbles with this one, but it was just a quick snap and I like the overall feel...
On a side note, my Rebel XT's shutter is beginning to fail.Luckily this is one of the few unaffected shots from yesterday.
