Cool! I love old castles and buildings. Thanks for the link to the castle's website, as well.

guess no one likes my shot

and nobody likes my rainy day landscape shot. :(

JK. Don't worry if nobody comments on your photo. Lots of really great photos get posted that never get commented on (or at least that's what I keep telling myself). ;)

Very slick. Nicely done.

I agree with fett. I post almost every day and I might get a comment once or twice a month. I try to comment where I have something to say: either I really like the way an image is captured or I can identify something to make an image better. I would take no comment as your image being competent but missing something to cause a reaction.

Personally I enjoy negative comments as they force me to be critical and look for ways to improve the next time I shoot.

As for the Coldplay shot, what would you like the viewer to see? Aside from the natural progression of diminishing size, nothing grabs or leads the viewer's eye. To me, it's missing an element of focus. We can't rely on the fact that it's Coldplay performing for the shot to be good. None of the performers is really doing anything energetic.

If you are looking for critique then I think the best way to do this is to start a new thread and post multiple photos. POTD is it's own beast altogether...

mcavjame: Thanks for the kind words :)

WinteMute I see you have quoted Lazarus Long...

a wise man indeed...

I always liked the line
'Have you noticed how much they look like orchids? Lovely!"

Lazarus Long:cool:

Be careful for what you wish for! Fishing for compliments may not produce the result you want.

Some people here want some genuine feedback; others just want to be told they're as good as they think they are... ;)

A lot of pix are OK... fine... good enough, etc: nothing much to say, really. Some are just so awful that C & C seems pointless. Where would you start?

Some stand out and make you go "Wow!", so it's good to put this into words.

Offering - and accepting - criticism is a different ballgame altogether, and fraught with pitfalls.

Years ago I took my 'portfolio' of pix to a professional photographer I admired. He called them "snapshots": not what I wanted to hear, of course (hell, my family thought my pix were terrific...), but he was right. It switched a light on in my head, and it's never gone out... :)

New Ferns

Took a walk in the bush behind my home... these "fresh" ferns caught my eye... it was the sun through the back that I like... and that single strand of spider's web.
