Xander562, that is a really cool picture. I can somewhat visualize how you put it together. Very cool, I would love to see a tutorial on that if you wanted to write one.

Mine for today:

Neat cloud at work about an hour or so before sunset tonight. I probably could have stayed there for about 30 minutes taking pictures of it, but I had to go back to work ;)

^ Composition and exposure is quite good. One of your better ones, as others have said. A little more DOF to bring the carrots in sharper focus might help. But a bit fuzzy works too.The white plate you use always seems to spoil it for me. I would like to see either some texture or design/color in the presentation plate. The white blanches out for me.

Its been raining all day in Chicago
^ Is that all? Seems like it has been raining all month here.

a really raining morning result on a tiny branch with tiny leaves...
^ At macro distances, even f8 is thin. Is this auto or manual focus? Manual always seems to be better with thin DOF.

^ This type of landscape shot is the kind that I see and want to have on my wall. The wandering stone wall really makes this an interesting composition. Nice photo.

Are YOU lookin' at ME ?

^ Wonderful crisp photo of the frog. It has lots of interesting variations in the skin. I might like it moved off to camera right, though. Not quite as centered.

^ That's a rat snake. Probably a black rat snake. Definite good guys, as the name implies.

^ Great light and color variations. This one has a ton of feel and emotion in it.

Sorry for the long post, I've been away for the weekend.

This is the historic small wooden church in Elbe, Washington. It was built by German settlers. It still has services once a month.

TheSVD and grassland, thank you for your feedback! I tried really hard on that one, taking everything everyone has said over the past few months. I learn so much just reading this forum everyday!

Your welcome pal :) i know, you do learn alot here! Its great to see users progress that we give feedback to :D I do believe i have commented on your earlier food work... definitely an improvement!

Really? I thought the white plate looked fine! What would you suggest that would look good, just out of interest? :)

It isn't as much the white as the gloss finish to the plate. If it were a matte or brushed texture it might be better (to me). It would absorb light and let the food stand on it's own more.

I just think it's too small. That seems like more of a dessert plate?

Excellent shot! Where exactly did you take that from? Do you have flying powers? :D

:D Nah, I took it with a zoom kit lens, 18-55mm, at 55mm. It was the only one of the several seagull shots that were halfway decent so it's not a very fast lens. The seagull was flying no more than 40 feet off the ground, that's low-lying fog underneath the bird.

TheSVD, Designer Dale and leighonigar,

Thank you for the feedback. The plates are actually 11 inches from corner to corner, the lip is a half inch all the way around, so a 10 inch plating surface. Interesting comment on a brushed or matte surface, I will look into something like that. I think I understand where Dale is coming from, the glossy white plates do not photograph well, but it is what guests expect. I may see what I can do if I get a chance on my next day off to go shopping and see if I can find something with a matte finish, or maybe take a piece of sandpaper to one to remove the glazing... Perhaps just a couple of them for photography purposes, interesting, THANKS Dale for the idea!

This is the nature boardwalk at Challenger 7 Memorial Park. I really like this park, even if it was where I almost stepped on the snake :)
