As an unscheduled treat, during the bus trip at Kennedy Space center, a recovered rocket stage was being transported to the assembly building for refurbishing and prepared for the next launch. Tomorrow a better photo as it crossed in front of us, but I had to shoot from the opposite side of the bus through those passenger's window.

For those summer Yellowstone visitors fighting the crowds - this is what the viewing area at Old Faithful looks like in January. I counted about a dozen people in total. And this was the biggest crowd we ran into in this area - out at the pools and walkways, our small group was alone.

Living in SW Montana, I find winter is definitely the best time to visit Yellowstone. Yes, there are way less people. Not all of the roads are open. You may need a snowcoach or snowmobile to get to some of the places. But the serenity and the scenery of snow against the hot springs and wildlife can be breath-taking!

Torpa.jpg

This is Torpa stenhus (stone house), a private castle dating back to 1470. Sweden's first king in the modern era, Gustav I, married a daughter to the owner of the castle in the 16th century. The castle has been passed down through different families ever since its erection, it has never been sold. It is open to the public.

I used the wrong picture before, sorry about that.
