Early 50's F-5 Ford in Butte, MT

This month's thread is already full of amazing shots, as usual.
The nor'easter has run all the snowbirds south for winter.. but winter here has its advantages as well.:p

One sponger takes a late drop into the winter's first day of groomed groundswell.

If you do a book, I would be among the first in line to buy it! :)

I'm just back from a trip as well. Spent the last two weeks of October cruising the Mediterranean so I've got some new stuff to share over the coming days.

Here's one of my favourites... the amazing Amalfi Coast and the village of Positano.

Awww, thanks VirtualRain. :) I have no idea where I'll get that kind of time and money, but I'd love to do it.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of your shots from the Mediterranean. I like the atmosphere you captured in your Amalfi Coast shot, though any photo of that area reminds me of a harrowing car ride I had along the treacherous curves of the cliffs, all because of missing a sign for the inland route to Pompeii...one wrong move along that coast and you're fish food!

It was so dark I could barely see the plane with my own eyes through the viewfinder. The A330 was actually going quite slow (maybe 8kts), taxiing along the taxiway parallel to the runway. The low shutter speed makes it seem to be going faster.

Great to see you posting again, avro707. Do you wait for evenings after a rain for these shots? The reflections of the lights on the wet tarmac are really nice.

Hello Everyone! First post here, but I'll happily receive comments and suggestions.

There's lots to like here. Nice texture in the water, great sense of depth, with some light in the background to draw the eye in. Good range of tones, with no major "holes" from clipping either shadows or highlights. I see a strong green color cast over the whole image, however. Perhaps you might try adjusting the color temperature to see if you can make it look more natural (or else go the other direction and make the color cast look more deliberate)?

Thanks! I took a break from photography to deal with some other things in my life that needed to be sorted out. Now I can get back into the photos again. :)

I've got the water of Botany Bay in front of me to help with reflections. It helps when there is less wind - water is calm and the wind doesn't shake the lens around, which is even an issue when using the Wimberley. :)

It's unreal what you can achieve with a Nikon D3S, some fast glass and some really low shutter speed panning - you can see in the dark. I'd love to try the Canon EOS-1Dx and the Canon 200-400mm lens on the Wimberley and see what that combo could achieve.

By the time I take these shots, everybody else has given up and gone home. ;) Though the onset of the D7000 and D5100 is bring more people into the art of low light aviation photography.

Night Goddess

One of the many sculptures at Fair Park in Dallas, Texas. The Art Deco buildings and sculpture that dominate the fair grounds were built in 1936 for the Texas Centennial Exposition. This sculpture is one of several connected to buildings along a central esplanade and reflecting pool. She's probably 30 feet or more tall. The "blue" strobe at the lower right is providing the illumination, but isn't that blue in reality - I bumped up the saturation and vibrance to bring out that spot of color.

Sunflowers are not usually out this late in the year. But, this farm planted them late, and they're now peaking their blooms in front of their corn maze. It made for an unusual photo opportunity.
