A few weeks back on the NASA APOD site I saw a unique picture of a cloud formation with a circle hole in one of the threads there, http://asterisk.apod.com/search.php?keywords=punch+hole+cloud , until then I've never heard about a "Punch hole cloud".

Last Sunday 9/18, we were at a church picnic and I looked up, saw this hole in a cloud, and grabbed my T1i camera w/ 15-85 lens to capture it.
The hole held together as the could drifted across the sky, so I think this was a "Punch hole cloud", what do others here think?

That reminds me of a cloud formation we saw moving across the sky one day at work earlier in the year. I waited until it was right over the state capitol and then snapped a few (horrible) photos with my iPhone. The capitol building is the tall building at the very back of the photo. It did just like you said, held the perfect circle all the way across the sky. Had we first seen it when it was over the capitol I would have sworn it was just from all of the hot air coming from the politicians
