This was a reference shot I took on a day when I planned to do some shooting at this location in the evening. I had a long-exposure sunset shot in mind, but due to one of the craziest situations I've ever experienced, that evening shoot never happened. We were staying in one of these huts because the owner (who is an acquaintance) kindly let us use it for a long weekend. It was a little one-room hut with an outhouse and an outdoor shower. So we're not talking about a big place here. We had a couple of nice days using it as a base for hiking until this last day, when the owner decided to invite a bunch of friends over for a BBQ--while we were still there! Needless to say, that made things...err...crowded to say the least. We came back from a very long and strenuous hike, very much in need of changing clothes and showering, but the hut was full of strangers. So we packed up and left, scratching our heads at the owner who was assuring us that we were still welcome to stay the next two nights as planned. Bizarre!

This kind of light - from below - is usually found in horror films, but somehow it flatters this kid's young features rather than making them scary. The skin-tones almost look like CGI, with reds reflected from the clothing, and wide eyes with catch-lights. I'd be tempted to crop heavily from bottom and right, to focus in on his expression...

a little over exposed but still a good pic

Some of the water the East Coast got last weekend going over the Great Falls in Paterson . People in the area upstream and ( I think) downstream are still flooded .

That's Great!! , When I first saw it I thought I was looking at the Brooklyn Bridge . Stands to reason as the Engineer who designed it is the same.

Your right, I knew there was a connection between those two bridges somehow but I had forgotten the same guy designed them. It was just completely painted, which the picture doesn't really show ha.

I would like to see a before picture of the falls!

I couldn't resist the colors. Taken at Longwood Gardens just south of Philadelphia between breaks in the rain.

Very nice colors. It looks like a burning flame. If I may suggest something, it would be to crop out the top left green part that draws the eye a bit, but otherwise, its a lovely and realy sharp image.

The purple in that flower is probably my favorite color! Amazing!

Here is a photo I took last week of a guy in Vienna who was dancing for change. The best part was sitting and watching people's reactions as they saw him.

There is something about that photo that makes me want to see more of what is going on in the area.

Is that the Red Power Ranger on the bicycle? I must visit Vienna!

Here's a ' before' of the Great Falls , taken 2 years ago at about the same time , from about the same place , but with a wider lens .
