One from the archives for today. This was part of a 3-piece series that I did in December, but I only ever posted the first two here. So without further delay...here's #3...a bit late

Variation on a theme

Also took this while walking across the bridge. The light was peeking through a little bit as opposed to the previous one. I also excluded the railing in the foreground. Not sure which I prefer.

Red Sky At Night

We've been hit wit a series of forest fires which is a very common thing out here although less so this summer. They have come last this year due in part to a wet spring and early summer. However, with the fires comes some great sunsets, with the sun often red in color. This was from last night, about 500 yds from my backyard. It was taken w/o any filter just a straight hand-held shot.

Posting a setup shot is OK by me, but make it a link or use [TIMG] [/TIMG] tags to make the second one a thumbnail. Only do this when you consider it important for the group to understand your shot.

Got it. Thanks for the help. :)

Nice colors. Too bad the source is a wildfire. Stuff in the air can have a global effect. The 1884 eruption of Krakatoa colored sunsets like this world-wide.

The wildfire season has come late this year and that isn't good. A lot of the people who fight these fires are college students who are gone from the bases now. I visited the North Cascades Smokejumpers Base in Winthrop Washington at this time of year in '08 and half the jumpers were back in school leaving only the hard core professionals.

On the subject of wildfires, this year was the 10th anniversary of the Thirtymile Fire in the Chewuch River Canyon North of Winthrop in which four young firefighters lost their lives. There is a memorial at the fire site and it is covered with trinkets and pieces of gear left there by others who have visited to pay tribute.

Mine for today. At the Thirtymile Fire Memorial in 2008.

Taken with my point&shoot.

Wondering what makes a good city shot? At night it is far quieter, light tonight was no good though. Only just starting out so any help is much appreciated. A little over processed?

At the Moriones Festival in Marinduque, Philippines, most of the costumes of Roman Gladiators are store-bought, and most a variation on a similar theme. A few Filipinos hand make their costumes, some quite elaborately using some really creative materials.
