Puhleese!

It looks like a generic picture used to represent a phone; an icon. Not the new iphone.

yeah - has anyone else actually seen this image? Can they post a decent screenshot. People just to conclusions far too quickly..

edit: not sure why the - votes, wouldn't usually care, but if this was like any other rumor, someone would be saying it. why didn't they take a screenshot instead of having the pixelated image..?
I'm all for the new iPhone, but jeez don't jump on things so quick

Edit 2: so apparently (yes, none of this is confirmed don't forget) this is a screenshot. hope this clears things up.

the most damning evidence so far. wow. im impressed.

Android enthusiast might jump ship to iOS this October.

but i already have an iOS device, the iPad2. i may sell iPad2 and get a HC tablet then, possibly Amazon tablet.

Why not keep the iPad2 and also get the iPhone. It would make no sense to get another tablet with a different OS when iPad and iPhone dance so brillantly together. Can you please explain to me cause I think I'm misunderstanding u. Seriously

I hope that is true, as I have since forever wanted apple to tone down the massive black bars of the iphone

Totally agree, the big bezels on the iPhone have always been a turn off to me, makes it look dated, like an old CRT monitor.

I will be first in line for an iPhone5 if screen is at least 4", and looks more modern streamlined, and for the love of God please add widgets already. otherwise Nexus-Prime here I come

These complaints make little sense. "At least 4 inches"? 4" tops.. probably not even. "Add widgets"? That has NOTHING to do with hardware.

But I completely agree about the "dead space" on the front of the phone. Only 2/3 is screen. So annoying. Should be 4/5 minimum.

I would agree with you, but this is Apple we're talking about. Video recording? Voice control? All features the 3G could do easily but were reserved for the 3GS. I wouldn't be surprised to see some software features withheld for the iPhone 5 exclusively, such as that voice recognition stuff that leaked out a while back.

Could mean anything, really. We wouldn't know if they just drew up a little touchscreen phone and stuck it in there or added a mini iPhone 5 drawing because we don't have any previous versions of Photo Stream to compare to where that image would be a mini iPhone 4 drawing.

well since it was made by apple and the text next to it, also by apple specifically states iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad, why would it be some random touch screen? there's just no logic to your point.

Even tho this is kinda silly to base the new iphone on a generic icon, the hope we do have is that the icon 'matches' what some of the mockups have shown.

This is not the first time Apple has used a generic icon to indicate an iPhone

Your 3rd pic is a 1st gen iPod Touch.

But it does seem weird that the designers went out of the way to make the iOS device look like that. We know it's easy to just put a rectangle and a circle, and voila you're done! but to make it an elongated home button, and a seeming bigger screen, would point to at least something.

It's a designer for iPhoto, why wouldn't the person be educated about the upcoming iPhone if he/she is to include it as an icon?
Also, it is a beta, and therefore not released to the public. So it's a possibility.

The biggest joke of all would be.. if the iPhone 5 looks similar to the Samsung Galaxy S2 LOL! Who is suing who now?

As saving107 said, this isn't the first time Apple has used a generic phone image.

It's like saying Apple will be releasing a camera because there is an image of a camera on the Photo Stream thing.

iPhone 5: Based on Photo Stream Icon

Here is a quick rendering based on the confirmed Photo Stream icon that Apple used (link below). Of course, it could be a generic icon but it's much more fun to speculate.

Using the icon as a template for spacing and dimensions the specs are very interesting. It generates a 3.7" screen with the phone measuring only 4" tall and about the same width as the iPhone 4.

In my opinion,

This is probably the best rumour thus far. I actually find this credible lol

For the past several months, there have been a lot of Front Page articles that really should have been on the iOS/Mac Blog instead.

This is the first iOS Blog article that I've read that I thought really should be Front Page material. And so it is.

I find this credible.

I'm not disagreeing but I ask, why would they need to use a generic one now? Why not just use a 3GS or an iP4? That's why I'm thinking twice about this, Apple knows how to play the publicity game & I think this was their first move.

Officially excited. Oh and I too hope white release on launch! I was one of those who *had* to pick up the black one after awhile.
