I deleted snapseed when I heard google bought it. I figured it would no longer be supported or my privacy would be gone. Maybe it's time to check it out again.

VSCOCAM is where it is at. Seriously more powerful. It has things like grain, shadows, highlight adjustments.
Very impressive tool. The presets are also film-like as they make presets for Adobe Lightroom that emulate real film stock besides hipster lomo effects found elsewhere.

The plus thing, Apple demoed VSCO extensions in IOS 8. Meaning, it will work like a plugin. Cant wait for that.

No, you're not a photographer. If you were, you would not be exclaiming " freakin amazing!" at a picture that was obviously not shot with anything less than a DSLR and some good glass (read lens). And with curves, highlights, shadows, adjusted.

He said he was a photographer. Not a pretentious, elitist snob.

Yet I have seen soooooo many Fandroids exclaim that the iPhone 6 camera is the same as the iPhone 5 because it has the same amount of megapixels.

Gotta love the people who think they're so savvy act as though megapixel count is the only thing that makes a camera.

They love to drool over numbers on spec sheets.

A friend of mine used to do photos for ad companies, ads that would go on billboards. His DSLR then had 4mp, which was enough.

The low depth of field in the first shot is not achievable from a small sensor camera of a cell phone. It has had some editing applied but overall looks good.

Thank you for the suggestion. I'll check that out.

Eh? The entire shot except for the bit of grass at the very front is in focus. That's certainly not what I'd consider a shallow depth of field and very achievable with a camera phone.

unless I am way off OIS helps most with taking photos if you have a jittery hand it helps stabilize so if you have steady hands or use a tripod of some kind OIS will not show any huge differences

Correct. It also improves low light performance by permitting longer exposures without loss of sharpness.

These new cameras are even better than expected. Apple outdid themselves on this one, they must have a killer photography team.

It going to be hilarous seeing the reaction of pixel dorks to this thing. "But it's only 8 megapixels!!!11!11!11111"

Exposure control is wrong in the text of the OP. The lighter one is taken with exposure control.

Sensors are one thing but for me it's all about the glass. I had a 4 MP camera as well that allowed for some amazing shots but the lens was a Zeiss and a nice piece of kit no matter that's on the other end of it.

Not all 4 MP sensors are created equally.

Just look at the progression of the iPhone camera since it hit 8MP. Same MP, but different sensors (and glass).

Given a certain amount of MP, larger sensors will have larger pixels, resulting in less noise and better light sensitivity. But even two sensors of the same size and MP may generate different results based on the manufacturing design and process.

iPhones will eventually need more pixels if they are to capture 4K video, but Apple will no doubt do it right, their camera tech team is the best in the smartphone business.

Don't know if this has been said yet or not but this guy was actually hired by Apple to do this, hence why there are no comparison shots, not trying to bash the camera or anything, just make everyone aware.

The condescension is strong with this one.

Android is software, we are talking about hardware here.

iOS = One hardware company
Android = Multiple hardware companies.

SO instead of listing all the manufactures that produce hardware that runs android, I suspect most clued on posters on MR knew what he was making reference to.

Not really impressive.

The 6+ just exposes better than the 5S. Seeing the original review, the 5S clearly overexposes the scenes, resulting in clipped highlights. It's not a hardware fault, though.

this is the most thrilling post re the new iphones i've seen to date.

granted, i'm a photographer.

but this is freakin amazing!!!!!!!

wish we had more side by side shots to show the diff btw 6 and 6 plus cameras.

You'd like the pictures independently of the camera.
