I have an offer for lifetime discount!

I assume due to purchasing the old one? How do you access that?

I can’t get that to show on iPhone or iPad and my MacBook is off to Apple for repair so hopefully it doesn’t require the Mac to show this version.

I have used Photomator on my iPad for a while, not sure when I bought it. As soon as I loaded the app on Mac and click buy now it was there.

I thought I had this app before. I have Pixelmator Pro and when I saw Photometer I thought the Pro was "better" oh well.

I used to use Aperture. then switched to a few apps before settling on Capture One but MAYBE this app will do? Do the Photos "live" in Apple Photos or within Photomator? when you make an update in Photomator does it save another JPG/TIFF (if a RAW file to begin with) and import back INTO Photos?

That’s positive… but it’s also more than the lifetime sub was offered for to begin with for everything… I held off going for that because they were going to offer a discounted rate for those who were grandfathered in.. and that’s more than the old one whilst also being on sale? Wtf?

Someone please explain to me the difference between this and the Pixelmator Pro. Shouldn’t this article actually explain what the Photomator is and how it differs from Pixelmator?

Saying that Photomator is like Lightroom and Pixelmator Pro is like Photoshop means absolutely NOTHING to me. Excuse my ignorance, but this is not a photography centric forum for the author to completely ignore this elephant in the room, assuming everyone who reads it understands the difference between Pixelmator Pro and Photomator or between Photoshop and Lightroom.

Wonder what it means for pixelmator pro , will they give it less love and less AI tools overtime ?
Nothing changes for Pixelmator Pro. Pixelmator Pro and Photomator are two different products, so their developments will continue separately. We'll keep improving Pixelmator Pro with new features and updates (AI tools included!). Announcements about these updates are coming later this year.

I have Pixelmator Pro on my Mac and £69.99 for Photomator is a little steep. I have been a long term user too, started with Pixelmator, the Pixelmator Pro followed by the iPad versions too.

If it was £39.99 I would have bought it no problem, but it's just too much when I have Pixelmator Pro!

Pixelmator Pro is a Photoshop alternative, while Photomator is a Lightroom alternative.

I would love to see that.

But for me, and I suspect many others... It will be an alternative when it can import Lightroom image libraries and retain all Lightroom non-destructive edits of every image file, and offering all of Lightroom's editing tools for making future edits/adjustments.

Without that, and thus needing to import and re-edit images in Photomator, makes it an absolute no-go for many people such as myself with a hundred thousand plus LR image files.

I'm buying it.... mostly to support asset management development going forward :)

Unfortunately, it requires MacOS 13 to run, so I'll finally need to update from MacOS 12, which will take a while over 4G.

Curious to see where this goes, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit concerned about Pixelmator Pro's future.

It feels like Pixelmator Pro is slowly morphing into this weird jack of all trades that can do a little bit of Photoshop, Illustrator, inDesign, Premier, and more, that is well optimized but perhaps less... full featured than dedicated apps. I remember when Pixelmator was aimed pretty much exclusively at photographers...

The website comparison tool unhelpfully says Pixelmator Pro is a "Layer-based image editor for creating stunning designs and compositions," while Photomater is a "Powerful photo editor fully optimized for photography workflows." Yes, I know what those words mean but the entire page could really use more detail. As a Pixelmator Pro (and Pixelmator) owner it really doesn't do a good job of explaining what this tool does or doesn't offer on top or do differently from Pro.

Finally it says over 600 RAW types supported. Do they have their own RAW engine or are they just referencing Apple's built in RAW support???

Once I’m on my home laptop, I’ll check, but when pixelmator first announced the subscription and the mac version they said that they were looking to provide a discounted lifetime subscription option for grandfathered in user to get the mac version. I’ve held off buying the lifetime sub at the cheaper price because of this. If it’s not going to be offered then I’ll be annoyed…
I'm a grandfathered user, just downloaded on my Mac and got an offer for $69.99 lifetime ($30 off). So it's there now.

Yeap same here, I'll stick to pixelmator pro for my workflow

Still nice they provided a lifetime option !

Is this app only reads photos inside the Apple Photos app?
Because I don’t want to import my RAW files inside as they will eat up all my iCloud storage.
