I think this is great, but as this catches on as it surely will, I'll be very interested to see how Apple treats this when the warranty claims start coming into the Genius bars on these gold platted watches.
I also wonder if this will step up Apple's plans to release their own gold-clad edition. I was predicting a $1-2K-priced gold watch by Thanksgiving, already, but maybe when the 6s is announced instead?
Let's be honest: Apple doesn't want people knocking off their $10,000 Watch. They won't update their warranty.
