In that case, they messed up last year then and should have had a better longhaul design plan. Hardware home buttons are going the way of dinosaurs and with the need for larger screens, unnecessary real estate is a massive negative. Bezels need to be as small as possible in order to incorporate big screens into smaller handsets.

What electronics company are you a hardware designer for? How can you say hardware home buttons are on the way out when the overwhelming majority of popular smartphones have them?

I wonder if that old analog phone is still usable somewhere or are all those frequencies now repurposed for digital. Maybe somewhere deep in the old Soviet Union it would still work...

That's CDMA technology and most of the world uses GSM. Verizon uses CDMA and I think Korea does too. AT&T and T-Mobile use GSM. But those old phones operated on older 800MHZ frequencies, I think, and probably would be unusable. Plus, its electronic ID is probably long since been deleted from any compatible system.

Why are people surprised over the top and bottom bezels? Did anyone seriously think after Apple integrated Touch ID into the home button they'd get rid of the home button one year later? I mean Touch ID hasn't even come to iPads yet. That would be a lot of R&D work for something that only lasted one year.

They could implement the finger print scanner on the back on the phone, get rid of the home button altogether, etc. But what we see here totally lacks any innovation or forward thinking. It is just a blown up iPhone 4-4s-5-5s on the front with a different back IMO

no, just no. i love the physical home button. i do not want a fingerprint sensor on the back either.

I hope they release the 5.5 inch version, I'd be more than happy to pay a more premium price for that for sure. If not, i'll probably buy the 4.7 inch anyway because the plastic casing on the 5C is driving me nuts. Go :apple: :D

That golden iPhone looks tacky as ****. I currently have a Lumia 1020 and I absolutely love the poly-carbonate back, but I am looking into moving to iOS since I want a bigger phone and I've been using WP for too long (love it though, but it will be nice to use a different platform).

I really wish the iPhone would have a polycarbonate back. My Lumia has gone through hell and back without a case and it still looks fantastic, and the design of the iPhone would work great with poly carbonate.

Anyway, the black 5.5'' iPhone 6 has my name on it unless Nokia or Sony completely blow me away by the end of the year.

Same here. I don't understand all the hate on here. People did this for the 4 back in the day too. Cried about how the antenna breaks were so Un-apple.

I still prefer straight edges of 5(s) than the rounded edges, which makes it look cheaper to me. I wonder about the dual flash too.

If this is truly the phone, I would basically be forced to get the black because those UUUGLY lines are rediculous on the gold and silver models.

If they drop the silver and go back to white, it'll work fine. If it's silver, gold, black.. I definitely want black. The lines aren't NEARLY as bad on it.

No oversized obnoxious "look at me!" Apple logo on the back!

Hallejuah!

Minimalism finally works at Apple.

So if Apple did this you would not buy another iPhone ?

i really wouldn't have a choice. i have thousands of dollars invested in apps/music/movies. i have the phone setup in a way that is perfect for my work and personal life.

if it was no longer available i would still get the phone but if i had a choice i would choose the physical button with the touch iD on the front.

Part leaks feel like they've been much fewer by this point than for the 5s or 5. Is it possible Apple has kept the wraps on what the production device really looks like, and these "mockups" are total guesses based on prototypes?

While I admit I said the exact same thing when the iPhone 4 started to leak, I truly am not in love with this design (at this point). Those huge borders seem very, yes, un-Apple. Of course, that's just my opinion, but I don't like it. And then how the top portion on the back only covers part of the camera lens... I don't know. :/

Hopefully this is either fake or more unfinished than it seems. That said, I'm already consumed in the Apple ecosystem so it doesn't really matter if I like it or not, I'll probably get it. :p

All I know I'll be getting the 4,7" model. I have both iPhone 5s (4") and Nexus 5 (5"). I find the current iPhone still a bit to small. I love the large screen of Nexus 5, but it is just a tiny little bit too large to use comfortably, especially with one hand. 4,7" will be great for me. :)

If this is true, colour me unimpressed - it's just a current iPhone enlarged, the bezels aren't thinner, there's really nothing new here - just a bigger phone.
