How come every mockup has differently sized bezels? Some look acceptable, some are just beyond belief.

Like a couple of people have already said, I love it how you all take it seriously!

As if Apple would release this phone that's pictured. It's a mock-up!

This is NOT the iPhone 6. Just look at the Home button and camera lens, very low-quality.

The black/slate version looks nicer.:)

Furthermore, these photos going around are of dummy models probably made in plastic.

The final metal versions probably would have a more cleaner design.

I'm buying an iPhone 6 regardless, but if the 5.5" version looks like that, sign me up. If Apple asked me what I want in the 6, I'd say "5.5" screen, 128gb storage and the A8."

They REALLY need to make 32gb the smallest size and offer 32gb, 64gb and 128gb as the options.

  • No hole for the Apple logo here...
  • Seemingly too thick bezels on the smaller one...
  • Is the scale right? Seems a huge jump from 4.7" to 5.5"...need a 5S to gain relative scale here...
  • Funky Camera inserts...
  • Still not sold on the plastic antenna lines...must be a nicer way to integrate them!
Seems like just another educated guess physical mock up...is there really anything to see here?

"It's only a model."

I think many people who currently have a 5S, like myself, will be sticking with it.

I think apple is going to surprise us.
Some dummies of the iphone 5 were ugly as well.

Based on the pictures of maxfixit.com.au i think the final version will be more refined with smaller bezels.
About the 5.5 inch versions, there were also schematics on the web for one 4.7 inch phone, but also for a 5.7 inch version.
But now everyone is talking about a 5.5 inch. If the housing would stay the same dimensions as the dummy, but the screen would increase to 5.7 inch you would have very little bezels on the sides and the smaller borders between the touchid, camera and the screen(on the dummy the touchid seems to be placed too low, not in the center).

About the 4.7 inch and newer pictures: in the newer pictures bezels seem a lot smaller.

2 situations:
Iphone 6 will actually be 4.75 inch and the big one 5.5( line up: 4 inch, 4,75 and 5,5 inch) seems more consistant.

Iphone 6 will be 4,85 inch and the big one 5,7 inch, also more consistent.

Or the leaked information about the case dimensions are wrong and apple use ( after prototypes) smaller cases.

What I wonder is why mockup stories are stories that make it on this site - this has to be the most ridiculous story to post, "this is how someone who isn't Apple thinks it *may* look according to *rumours*." It's speculation based on rumours - does everyone realise how far from reality this is? How very strange.

The site is called MacRumors. The mock-ups are based on the rumored enclosure for the new phone. The speculation is in the comments. "No dual LED flash?! No apple logo?!"

Well, that has always been the case, hasn't it?

Aside from a brief flurry of interest when it was first introduced, I don't think the gold colour has been very popular in western countries. It's aimed more at the Chinese and Middle-eastern markets, where consumer tastes are a bit different.

I don't think that's true at all. White looks the best and the gold trim on the white phone looks really fresh and classy. That's what I have with my 5S, and I'm a California white guy. It's not an ethnic thing at all.

The black/grey shades look non-Apple, I think those get mistaken for Android phones.

Another picture of the black version

It looks rank. The antenna breaks suck badly, as do the bezels, and as does the protruding camera lens. There will be gimmicky attachments for that bayonet fitting which I'm sure the vast majority of owners will never use. Protruding camera units are horrible.
After iOS7 and the loooong road to clear the bugs due to them chucking out an unready o/s, the last thing the world needed was a cheap looking new iPhone.

4.7 inch has an ugly thick bezel. Not buying.

It looks like it has the exact same bezel as the 5S. Now its suddenly ugly?

People need to stop expecting such an unrealistic edge to edge screen. Such a screen would make the phone annoying because you wouldn't be able to hold it without constantly pressing on the edge of the phone and activating stuff.

Pretty consistent mockups, so chances are, these pics give us a good idea about what the new iPhone will look like. Come on people. It's 2014. Wake up. The iPhone is built in China and underpaid workers will have a chance to earn some extra bucks when they sell secrets and pics to western tech sites. :p

The bezels are ugly and a result of the huge home button, which is again a result of the finger print reader. Ok, makes sense for a very conservative approach. However, it also shows, that imagination and innovation was lacking. There is really *nothing* ground braking or remotely elegant about the design. It is dull and boring. IMHO the Z2, HTC One or LG3 are much better looking phones.

A fingerprint scanner for the index finger on the back of the phone and/or a software solution for the home button and you could design a 'big' screen with tiny bezels, for an overall pleasant looking, relatively small device.

I'm sorry to say this but Sir Johny Ive will look over like a moron in the marketing videos when he tries to convince people about the estatics of this phone, no matter how tight his shirt is and how he pronounces 'aluminum'

Fugly as hell. Doesn't matter though, fanboys will buy it anyways. All these "negative comments" will turn in to oohh's and aahh's the second it's released. It will become the best thing since the sliced bread.

Need to see the 5.5" model compared to other phones like HTC One M8 and Samsung S5 for comparison. I think the 5.5" might be around the same size. If that is the case; I getting the iPhone 6 5.5" size.

It couldn't possibly be the same size. It will more likely be the same size as the Samsung Note!

It's not the real thing. Everyone takes these Mockups way to serious. This is not from Apple, its what someone or some people think it will look like.

I'm commenting on the mockup. geez calm down

I agree it's fugly. your right I'll still buy one because I don't have an iPhone because it looks good I have one because it works good.

There is no way that Apple can keep the wraps on a device until announcement day, not when they manufacture millions of them - and in a different country.

Where's the cutout for the Apple logo? And on the larger version it looks like bezel on side is narrower than the other side, and they both are narrower than the smaller version. Somebody needs to work on their dummy making capabilities. :D

You know what, Josh? I'm quite aware of this site, having been a member quite a few years longer than yourself, but thanks for the offensive attempt at setting me straight.

It's still speculation based on rumours, one more step removed from reality than rumours and quite different from rumours, which I find quite silly, especially the discussions and comments they generate (as evidenced in this very thread).

Always has IMHO; like an elegant woman vs the white version which looks like a hipster trying too hard to be different. It's apparent on these mock ups as well as the 5 and 5s with the antenna cuts. No grace at all; just in your face contrast. Yuk.

We can't be sure, but we are all feeling the iPhone will be a physically larger phone than other premium handsets with the same sized screen.

Just for one reason alone. Bezels.

Apple, so far still insists on fitting the old round large home button, so that means the bottom bezel cannot get to be nice any thinner like on say an Android model.
Also, so far they insist on keeping the top bezel the same height as this bottom bezel.
So they are stuck with a physically larger phone for any given screen size than the best of the competition, unless they change one of these things.

Apple can't, or won't make anything to compete with something like this for example:

Smallest phone with the largest screen, which should be the whole aim of it.
