That is way chunkier than I was expecting.
Physics. Current battery tech means you need a decent size to be useful. A slim battery that gives you next to nothing extra battery is not useful.
That is way chunkier than I was expecting.
Lol that reminds me of my thoughts when I saw my butt in a pair of badly cut jeans I tried on during a pre-pandemic shopping trip. 😜That is way chunkier than I was expecting.
It's a huge bump! What a ridiculous item to have to carry in your pocket. I can throw out ideas, but I don't know what will work and not work from a hardware perspective. But, it's also not what I get paid forWhat's poor about it? And what would your design look like?
One model to fit all iPhone 12s. It already covers the whole back of the Mini almost up to the camera bump.Surely they could have made that much thinner and spread it out over a larger area while trying to keep a similar capacity, at least then it would look like a product made by Apple and not some wart sitting on the back. Look at all that wasted space.
First time posting here?this is the most idiotic move by apple
Ouch, what an eyesore. To me, I would have removed the lighting connector HW, the LED and 50% of the thickness. Rely on the UI of the iPhone and geared the battery purely as a top up option for the minimalist AND as a emergency top ups.
Apple's new MagSafe Battery Pack will begin arriving to customers around the world this week, and one lucky person has already snagged one.

Steven Russell from Memphis, Tennessee said he managed to pick up the MagSafe Battery Pack from a local Apple Store over the weekend, and he has since shared photos on Reddit, providing a closer look at its design and thickness.
Russell shared some early impressions of the battery pack, noting that it is designed with hard but smooth plastic and has a very strong magnetic attraction to his iPhone 12 Pro, even with Apple's silicone MagSafe case on the device. He added that while the battery pack is quite thick, its rounded edges make it comfortable to hold.

Priced at $99 in the United States, the MagSafe Battery Pack attaches magnetically to the back of the iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, or iPhone 12 Pro Max, providing additional hours of battery life. Apple says the battery pack is able to wirelessly charge the iPhone at up to 5W on the go, or at up to 15W when the battery pack is connected to a 20W or higher power adapter with a Lightning to USB-C cable.
When you attach the MagSafe Battery Pack to an iPhone 12 running iOS 14.7 or later, it will automatically begin to charge the iPhone and a charging status will appear on the Lock screen. iOS 14.7 is currently in beta and should be released within the next few days.

The MagSafe Battery Pack can be ordered on Apple's online store in a white color only and currently has a late July delivery estimate.
Update: Russell has also confirmed that the MagSafe Battery Pack can wirelessly charge AirPods, which is to be expected, as the battery pack is functionally equivalent to the MagSafe Charger in this regard.

Spelling correction: thicc boidamn that’s a thick boy
Worse as it looks like one of those generic Thule boxes as opposed to the custom Audi one I insisted on buying (if we absolutely had to) that makes some effort in terms of design and aerodynamics despite the obvious design limitations.Wow. That thing has all the elegance of a car roof box.
I’m still on iOS 13, waiting on 14.7 or 14.7.1 before I upgrade. I wouldn’t be surprised if Apple releases a 14.8 before iOS 15 launches. I personally noticed the persistent battery life issues on my 6s and it was bad enough already. That’s why I’m making sure my next upgrade I am definitely choosing a Pro Max model.I had really good battery life on my X with iOS 12 but then I updated to iOS 14 and there was a very noticeable decline by the start.

If it's from Aliexpress it's probably 1000 mAh only.I bought this one for ~US$ 30 (including shipping costs) on AliExpress, 5000mAh, USB-C IN/OUT port, it works very well, the magnets are very stong, it weighs ~100g.

I can see why you might not like it but it's just a smooth, white, rounded block. There's nothing there to justify calling it "horrendous" and "fugly". That is just over the top exaggeration. This is the most horrendous design Apple *ever released, this thing is fugly as poo.
The old hump battery case was bad, this monstrosity multiplied by ten.
*To my knowledge
The best design years are being left behind, Former 2 Mac Pros were designed better, new iMac design...meh, best design Apple display was the all aluminium one, without the black bezels, OS UI design was a thousand times better in the OS X days....and so on and on.I can see why you might not like it but it's just a smooth, white, rounded block. There's nothing there to justify calling it "horrendous" and "fugly". That is just over the top exaggeration.
My 6.1" iPhone 12 has 2815mAh.If it's from Aliexpress it's probably 1000 mAh only.
I never trust Chinese specs, like how many mAH a single li-ion 18650 cell has, some of them have specs like 7000 mAh, physically not possible, or a 10.000 lumen single 18650 cell flashlight, yeah...right.
