I told my kid I picked up 2 Brazilian iPhones today. He said, "Wow! That's a whole truckload!"
:D

I believe there must be some kind of law

I believe there must be some kind of law saying you must print "Indústria Brasileira" in order to get tax benefits.

For example, if your factory is located at Manaus (where you get some tax incentives), your product must have a little image of a brazilian bird (not sure which one it is) and the text "Produzido no pólo industrial de Manaus. Conheça a Amazônia" (something like 'made in Manaus' Industrial Special Area - Get to know the Amazon').

>High Brazilian import taxes on goods such as the iPhone and iPad have resulted in slow adoption of Apple's devices in the world's fifth most populous country.

Oh hello, it looks like Brazil has figured out how to stop the outsourcing plague that has been screwing up the economy in the USA and Europe.

MAYBE WE SHOULD, I dunno... FOLLOW THEIR EXAMPLE.

Would love to, however are people prepared to pay 4 to 5 times the cost for their products, which is what it would cost for assembly in the EU or the US?
