4500mAh for a tablet? Seems quite low to me.. Considering if the iPad Mini/Air comes with the beefy Retina Display.
The iPad mini fits with the iPod mini and the Mac mini. Yes, lower-case "m" in "mini". I guess that's the creativity there. Oh well, it's better than calling it the "iPad 7" or "iPad Book", which would not fit Apple at all.
I think if Apple were to take this 7-inch size seriously, they'd design a third iteration of iOS. I mean, the iPhone keyboard and iPad keyboards are very different from each other, and are ergonomic enough for their forms. Tt would seem very very very lazy of Apple to just shrink down or enlarge a pre-existing UI.
If they do it right, they'll figure out the most ergonomic way of using the 7 inches of space, and I really doubt they'd take the easy way out. Well, I'd really hope they don't, at least.
it'll replace the ipad2 and start at $399.
I guess my question is how will 163ppi look I can't even remember life pre-retina it may not be so bad on the 7.8 in form factor

I agree with you totally. The event is very probable. A smart man would say it probably is coming. I'm slowly thinking this too. It's never 100% certain till Apple says it is. And that's the point. People say it "will" happen before the Apple announcement. My point was that Jim Dalrymple's announcement isn't an educated guess and that his information does come from Apple.
Since I can't perfectly prove it you may as well say that the fact that Jim Dalrymple has insider information from Apple is just a rumor or "an educated guess".
I just can't win with your type of reasoning anyway. You can always just pull out "nothing in life is certain" or "everything is relative" to everything and while technically you're right, you're still a party pooper.
The original point was never that Apple officially announced the event, just that it has near 100% chances of happening.
It's not an official announcement from Apple. And we do not know what he does or does not know. All still speculation. Yep from Tim Cook (or any other Apple senior exec) carries a lot more weight then a yep from Jim Dalrymple. He could be right. And I hope he is. We shall soon see if he is.Educated guess? No. When Jim Dalrymple says "yep", take it to the bank. He doesn't guess when he says that. He knows more than he is at liberty to discuss.
Macbook Air ≠ iPad though. If the inbetween iPad could co-exist like different sized MBA's that'd be cool. But product cannibalisation always has to be thought of. No point making a inbetween iPad if people who were going to buy a large iPad change to a smaller size. That's less $ is sales. But if the inbetween size gets people who were not in the iPad market to buy an iPad then that's a good thing.I wonder what the 11" Macbook Air does to 13" Air sales?
Does anybody else think that the name "iPad Mini" is a bad name? Can't they think of something more creative?

Well I know you are wrong, perhaps you would care to wager your milk money, car payment, house mortgage or even whole house on it, and one of us will be happier then the other come October 23rd.
Why? Have you lost all of the above in a wager about October 17th?
I know for a fact that the device has been put on hold due to production issues. Oct 23rd not gonna happen.
