The ipad2-like shape for the iphone 5 is making more and more sense as these rumors and images trickle in. I really hope they do not do a chrome finish on the back like the ipod touch.

I hate the glossy black plastic back of my iphone 3g, and the glass back of the iphone 4 is not much better. I just hate owning something which I use on a daily basis and can't ever get it to not look like a damn grease pan.
 
whatever it ends up looking like, Apple has done a hell of a job keeping us guessing. It seems when somebody has a "reliable" claim, it's always contradicted by someone else's "reliable" claim..
 
I do think its real, however it's tough to say if the screen size will increase unfortunately. Will love the curved, tapered design tho!

It fits my theory of a more rounded back for the iPhone 5. It's obvious to me that the iPhone 4's flat back was an experiment by Apple that they are not going stick with (see: iPad2).
 
Cross Between Original iPhone and 3G models

The form factor looks like a cross between the original iPhone and the 3G models, I like it.
In fact, even to this day, when I pick up my first generation iPhone I like the feel of it better than any other device.

Stuff can only get so thin before i feel like making a phone call with a sheet of paper.

Agreed completely. I've been hoping that a future iPhone is a mix of the original and the 3G.

If the iPhone 5 has a bigger screen, while improving the battery life, then it'll be the most ideal iPhone in my eyes.

I hated the iPhone 4 design, ever since the prototype was leaked. I'm glad that apparently the iPhone 4 design 'fell out of favor' by the Apple execs.
 
Yes, as others have said, it looks like an iPod Touch case. That said...if that's the iPhone 5 design, it's still kinda cool. I'll have to stick with the iPhone 4, but that's life. =)

That's the typical type of people Apple wants (no offense). IMO if it has meaningful upgrades that really make a difference then yes I agree with you 100%, if it does not have those upgrades, i'll pass.
 
Moving the mute switch is dumb -- it makes sense for it to be next to the volume buttons. It makes NO SENSE for it to be that close to the camera. There's probably not enough space to fit the backside of the mute switch and the camera module that close together.

Also, after finally announcing that with iOS 5 you'll be able to use the volume up button as a camera shutter, do you really think they'd move back to a volume rocker on the device with (by far) the best camera? A rocker is much, much less suitable for this purpose.
 
No beveled back!!!

I think everyone is going to find out that they're totally wrong with this beveled back. Apple did everything they could to get out of the terrible design of the original iPhones as they presented problems for case and screen protectors, especially on the back. I personally do not believe Apple would go back to a design almost identical to the iPhone 2G-3GS after all the effort they put into the iPhone 4. I am going for the far more realistic and logical answer that iPhone 5 will look very very similar to the iPhone 4.

Ergonomically, definitely a step forwards from the iPhone 4.

Same. I only got my iPhone 4 less than 3 months ago so I'm in no position to pay for a new iPhone just yet. Although saying that, I've already managed to chip the black band around my iPhone! D:
