It fits my theory of a more rounded back for the iPhone 5. It's obvious to me that the iPhone 4's flat back was an experiment by Apple that they are not going stick with (see: iPad2).
Totally agree.
I too fall in the camp that believes we need only look to the iPad 2 build to know what the next iPhone will look like. I would't be one bit surprised if the next iPhone picked up the iPad 2's unibody aluminum backside. Or maybe it won't pickup any iPad 2 elements but serve more as a design indicator for the next iPad? It may be worth noting that I've never once gotten an expectation delivered when it comes to Apple hardware design (as someone facetiously asked earlier - does that make me an analyst?). Apple always offer a twist I, nor most forums, never saw coming. Which is part of the fun. Part of the dance. Keeps us coming back
Aesthetically, I thought the iPhone 4 looked amazing. But actually in-hand use was awkward. Whereas I found the aesthetic of the 3G/3GS less pleasing but it's in-hand use much better. Maybe this next iPhone will be the perfect blend of aesthetic and function.
Either way, I am prepared to upgrade my 3GS whenever Apple releases the next iteration.
