What is the extra grate for over the ear speaker on the white iPhone...why doesn't the black have it?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8A293 Safari/6531.22.7)

I will be buying one of these for my wife. So I can finally use FaceTime. It stinks to be the only one with an iPhone 4. BTW antenae issues aside this phone is great in any color.

good thing i already order the black bumper. when the white iphone comes out i won't have to wait three weeks for the bumper.

The box isn't labeled "iPhone 4.5"

nor is there a sticker on the front saying "Now with FREE Bumper Case!" or "Now with New and Improved Proximity Sensor!".

"manufacturing challenges" = not as popular as the black iPhone so we held it back to focus on black iPhone availability.

Oh well...it'll still have the same defective antenna design so I'm not in too big of a hurry to ditch my 3GS.

MacRumors is changing its name to iPhoneRumors?

Is MacRumors going to change its name to iPhoneRumors? If not, this coverage is becoming disproportionate...

I have liked all the white iPhones, but this one just does nothing for me. I think the black looks much classier and sleek. I think the white face makes it look cheap to me, I don't really know, but I am not of fan.

The proximity sensor

beat me to it! I'm curious...

The reason why it is visible on the white but not black is because of the color of the sensor. Since the sensor is IR, it is a dark color. Dark color doesn't show when it's behind a dark color lens or glass. It will, however, show through a light or white lens or glass. Look at your TV remote. If the glass in front of your remote is dark or black, you can't see the IR piece inside. However, if it's clear, you'd see the IR module.

It's really weird seeing you yanks fawning over the white ones. Most of the non-carrier stores in the UK only have the white models. Obviously shipped them over here, left all the black ones in the US... Strange...

Hmmmm....

You'd think Apple would have created some sort of clear plastic cover to avoid the touch-of-death issues before these white phones came out.
