Err... Tiger is our current cat. You mean Leopard, right?Two things I find encouraging for the WWDC are: Apple has recently updated (slightly) the Mac Pro's to 8 core, Apple has updated the Mac Book Pro. It seems unlikely that Apple would update the MBPs this week.
What does that mean? It means Apple usually has some announcements at the WWDC, usually more pro focused. If those were the ONLY announcements that Apple had available to make they would probably have held them off.
One therefore wonders what Apple has in store for everyone this year?
* Is it Tiger? Doubtful that it would be a Tiger shipping announcement since Apple just said it was delayed.
* Tiger features? Perhaps. Perhaps they are amazing, but I don't think that is enough of an announcement.
* ZFS? Doubtful.Lol.
* iPods - doubtful since history is against it. It could be iPhone-family related (e.g. extending the line or moving features into other iPod type products. That is more likely to me.)
* iPhone related? Doubtful since that was covered in January and it will be coming for real in a few weeks.
* iMac? Perhaps. History is against it based on previous timing, but as the non-focal point, perhaps.
* Mac Books? Possibly, but I think they would have timed it with MBs announced before the WWDC and MB Pros at it unless there are seriously amazing upgrades which I doubt. Usually WWDC is more pro oriented and if the upgrades were equivalent or close I think the reverse or concurrent release would be most likely.
* Displays? Probably will announce in the next 6 months, perhaps at WWDC, but are they a 'big enough' announcment?
* Further Mac Pro announcements? This is most likely in my book based on history and the current state of the Mac Pro's.
* A touch based tablet? Wild card.
* Boot camp/Windows related. Doubtful
What is the big announcment then? Will there be one?
Why unlikely? No mac pros? No mac mini?Computer updates = unlikely, except possibly the iMac, as mentioned
Why unlikely?Display updates = also unlikely, but not out of the question
Why unlikely?Other stuff = possible, but also unlikely
what do u mean?Surprise announcement = I'm thinking it'll be either a new, Macs-first graphics card,
Mac Pros were recently updated - I doubt that Apple will update the other models, since I don't know of any new chips from Intel Apple would use.Why unlikely? No mac pros? No mac mini?
The next big thing I see, as far as displays go, is LED backlighting. That just isn't practical right now for Apple's larger displays. Again, I don't know of any big things besides that available now that Apple would use.Why unlikely?
I could see an iWork '07 and iLife '07-related announcement happening at WWDC, but since that is a developer-oriented conference I believe that is unlikely to happen. Likewise, as far as the Mac Mini goes, I think Apple's just going to discontinue it and not update it any more.Why unlikely?
I'm just taking a wild guess here, but look at AMD and ATI. Heck, look at nVidia. See what offerings they have and what's in the pipeline? It's about time we got better graphics and better drivers. An agreement with these folks WOULD impact developers, and would be the perfect surprise announcement for WWDC.what do u mean?
Great practical way of thinking, im with you bro!!! Nice going!! Although i feel very dissapointed!!!Mac Pros were recently updated - I doubt that Apple will update the other models, since I don't know of any new chips from Intel Apple would use.

Anyone identify the package icon with some arrows coming out of it on the middle left? Is it the new package icon?
Err... Tiger is our current cat. You mean Leopard, right?
Mac Pros were recently updated
What chip would Apple use, though? I'm not sure what, if anything, Apple would use to update the Mac Pros. That's the reason I think Apple's not updating them any time soon.While there was an update, it was only a stop-gap that could be done without much in the way of changes. I don't think this REALLY qualifies as an update, it "merely" added the dual quad core option.
That is why I think that Mac Pros are likely to be updated sometime soon and if they can do it during WWDC, that seems to be a pattern.
