Numbers are always good. I don't have a CS2 serial number so I am limited to two days. One in reality since today is the only day I will be able to goof around. So benchmark away and share your results. Thanks.

ok, so downloaded the retouch artists benchmark test again, and here ya go:

CS2 - 1m48sec
CS3 - 57sec

i can say im happy with that, that seems to be about the results the windows guys are getting on their CS2 results. but for me its the startup, CS2 wasnt bad to work in but took so long to start up in rosetta, 3 seconds WOO! lol

Feel free to submit your own results

Any G4 users install it? I can't get Photoshop to install. Bridge and the others do just fine.

Downloading both the Windows version and the Mac, 4 hours remaining on the
Mac Version and 2 on the PC.

By the way I started the Mac version 2 minutes before the PC.

Just stopped the Mac version and restarted it and now there is 56 minutes remaining.

a bit off subject but i recently discovered choco flop, an image editor that actually uses core graphics (so pretty much instant effects), you can get it herre http://www.chocoflop.com/, it is in beta but looks promising, so if ya need quick filters and havnt got the CS3 beta yet, this will do the job. Just spreading the word.

CS3 is feeling amazing so far. It starts up in 13 seconds on my 2GHz MacBook Pro with 1GB of RAM and I'm very happy with that. (Hopefully it'll scream even louder when I get a Mac Pro and throw a few gigs of RAM in it).

I love the new look of the palettes. The long thin tools palette is a great idea for saving space so I don't have to tab it out of the way, and the collapsible palettes on the right is a great idea.

Is there going to be different versions of CS3 as the Beta is listed as Standard.

Easter Egg in Beta

Hold down the Apple key and click on about Photoshop and up appears a pretty naff screen.

dont forget that nice fade in and out when you click back to finder desktop view, slick (though probably overly time consuming after a while lol) zoomify is nice, i can see it working together with that new auto-align tool for big panoramics to explore, google earth style. clone tool enhancements, quick selection seems intuitive. Auto blend, nice for matching up 2 shot of same subjects and reasing a 'blinker' lol. to name a few nice changes.

Yeah, honestly, CS was barely usable before the switch, I think because it was such a huge program it just lagged like crazy on simple operations.

I'm guessing it doesn't do the little fade in thing on the PC side?

I wish they would keep the icons like this ...i much prefer them to previous icons.

this from bare feats if anyones interested:

"December 15th -- Photoshop CS3 QUICK TAKE -- We ran two benchmarks on our Mac Pro 3GHz test unit. First we ran our six Multi-Processor Aware Actions on a 100MB test file. It ran 39% faster than CS2. Second, we ran the Retouch Artists Benchmark. In the first pass, it ran 64% faster than CS2. In the second pass, it ran 73% faster. (!)"
