I use the invisible shield on my ipod because I always stick it in my pocket so no one ever sees it but with the iphone......no way.

Thanks for putting these really high quality pictures up. Even though the shield looks horrible on the 3g.....thanks for putting such effort to warn us.

no problem - it'd be nice to see some other peoples pics of iPhones with the other makes of shield fitted by way of a comparison.

have any of you guys with the IS try to remove the back one? if you guys did.. did it peel off the lettering? because i thought i saw that it did somewhere..
and i bought the IS and applied it.. i think i did a good job.. but i liked how the BSE was on my old iPhone more

I feel bad for the OP getting his phone dissed. I'm sure it doesn't look as textured as in the pic. :)

SBIK2 - THAT is a good question. It would be awful to have a few letters or bits of letters pulled up from removal. At least the black's letters aren't as prominent as the white. But what's under the letters? I HOPE the spot would still be black or white?

I was expecting it to be dissed LOL:).
in reality these pics are high-res and to the naked eye the back does in fact not look too bad at all.
I have removed the back (it does not damage the print/Apple logo, peels off like a normal sticker) and am currently wearing it on a Belkin silicone skin with anti glare cover for the front.

IS are sending me out another (their customer service has been excellent), but I'm in two minds about whether to fit it again.

I'll prob end up ordering another Vaja case like the one I had for my first gen iPhone.... now they are really nice :D

I just finished applying the back of my IS, and I've never had such rapidly changing emotions in my life. It went from "this isn't so bad" to "wow, these corner flaps suck" to "ok once they dry they mold pretty well" back to "no, they really do suck". Right now I'm pretty happy with it, those pictures from the OP are completely exaggerated because of the lighting and how close up they are. I was expecting to give up after 10 mins but once it starts to dry it really isn't too bad and actually does a decent job at molding itself. You do however need to constantly palm the corners and push out the bubbles for a good 45 mins.

There are two things that must be resolved for me to keep it on, though: First of all, there seems to be some visibly white adhesive right in the middle of the back. This has to go away (and I'm guessing it will), or I'm taking it off. Secondly, one of the corners was giving me a bit of trouble staying down. If it consistently pops up, I'm taking it off.

Well that's all for now, here's to hoping those issues get resolved overnight.

Installing the back was ridiculously hard. I think I did okay, after 3 tries, but I still have 1 or 2 corners with a slight crease. Oh, and a piece of lint or two snuck under, but I'm not too concerned about that. Front looks great. We'll see how it cures.

I installed the IS yesterday. While I wasn't able to get all the air bubbles out, when the screen is on you can't even see them.

In the event I ever want to remove the IS how hard is this? If I try to take it off is the adhesive going to leave gooey blobs everywhere?

Bodyguardz is the same material, and looked exactly the same as that. That stuff will only work on a white iphone, period. Its ugly as sin if you dont have white.

Back to looking for SOMETHING to protect the back....

Smh, White phones will look just as bad. Even worse once grit and grime gets in the cracks.

Disregard what I said earlier. All it took was putting it in my pocket and now link and dust are stuck to the edges of the shield. Not only that there is now a huge scratch on the shield's "face". The responsiveness of the phone is slower too. Took the shield off. I missed my beautiful and working iPhone!

It's a strong glue, so you'll have to yank. But it leaves little residue that wipes off with a damp paper towel and a cloth to dry. Very easy removal. Even without the clean-up, you'll hardly notice anything.

Invisible Shield on White 3G iPhone

Here are the photos of the invisible shield that I applied to the white iphone, it took me about an hour because I got pretty ocd about the ports and buttons lining up. A little bit of advice- line up the headphone port and the hold switch at the same time, then the rest of it should be okay. Take your time, be patient with the corner flaps, try the palming method, or use a blow dryer on low to help you. I sat palming the corner flap for about 5 minutes and they came out great.

Will see how it holds up to the pocket in the next day or two- and possibly will add an iskin revo when it comes out.

WOW, doesnt even cover the chrome ring.

Now, a good comparison would be to see if someone who has BodyGuardz on the White iPhone. or perhaps BSE? But definitely BodyGuardz.

BL.

I think all the skins are poorly cut. My old Iphone had the IS and it covered 100% of the iphone. The new one doesnt cover the chrome ring. BG said its scratch proof yet i scratched mine witha key and the scratch is still there and is clear as day.

dude the IS is complete garbage. poor cutomer service, poor product. It took me a month to get mine (ordered on june 14th). Installed their crappy product, it took me an hour and and a half to get the corners down and I still have creases. The front peice has little streak tears and a rainbow effect. I emailed them about replacement, took a week to here back from them and their response was that the reason why the screen looks so f*cked up is because it was an installation error and theyd send me a replacement but it wouldnt be considered part of the lifetime guarantee. So ill give them plus one on the effort to offer on replacement but according to them inorder to still be eligible for a liftime guarantee I have to install the new one, mail back the old one and to be honest I really dont feel like doing that crappy install again. So for anyone intrested in the IS I hope you think twice all their claims are false, this "shield" is really a cut-out piece of saran-wrap with defects all over it...and it doesnt even protect the whole iphone! two thumbs down:mad:

i nabbed a bodyguardz
i hope to try it out as soon as it gets here.

im not too fussed about the diminished look of the iPhone.
all im worried about is the protection.

Ok... um... this is scary. Please explain further...

To unlock the phone I had to try several times sliding my finger across the slider. When I used to be able to lightly touch a button I have to apply a bit more pressure for the phone to register. That sort of thing.

I e-mail Zagg and am hoping for a refund but I doubt it.

I've also attached three photos. One is is of the front when the phones screen is lit up. One is of the back. The final is of the scratch on the IS I mentioned in an earlier post. Again, I was following the directions exactly, running the rubber edge across the screen to remove the bubbles, and this happened.

hope the pics come out.
very tricky to perform. took about 45 mins.
still not very happy.
the front was so awful I removed it, according to the Zagg rep who emailed me this is a manufacturing problem they are having (lines/creases in the plastic not caused by dust or poor fitting technique).

how come these were taken what seems like immediately after the application? (because many of us should know it looks worse than it usually turn out to be immediately after because all the texture and bubbles dont go away until the advised ~24 hours of leaving it alone)

was this made for the purposes of exaggeration and to scare people away from buying from ZAGG?

im comparing the photos taken up there with the white one and that doesnt look too bad. then theres the person who F*ed up.. but that looks like he has a technical disability at applying the skin correctly.

we need more pictures, more pictures please~

all my photos are time stamped by my camera.
taken the day after I applied the IS.
if you want more pics (from the day I took them on the 18th) or if you want to see it now (early hours of the 25th in the UK) then I'll gladly take some more pics. since I posted these photos the IS back shield has remained in place and I have a Belkin silicone shield covering over the top.

If you go to the Zagg website, the Mods on the forum readily admit that the current 3G shield has not been cut correctly.

It does take a couple of days for the bubbles to dissipate but saying that I had one on my phone and the quality of the product was questionable. It had creases in it that caused a rainbow effect on the screen. I requested a replacement twice and received it 2 months later (iPhone 2G). Again, as with all 'skins' they can be very difficult to apply properly.

Saying that I applied a BESTSKINSEVER to my iPod Touch and even though it stuck to everything when trying to apply it, it looks great. Lets see if it stands the test of time....My Niece....

I would like to thank you guys for the feedback. Sorry to hear about all these frustrating problems. Maybe they rushed to make these in time for the launch???

I had BestSkinsEver on my original iPhone. It wasn't bad, but because of the curvature of iPhone, the areas of the skin where there were crevices easily collected lint and dirt which made the corners peel a bit. Also, the grip was a bit too grippy. I ended up just using the screen film and left the back off.

so i just put mine on. The only problem i had was a little bit of overlapping on the bottom flaps but that was it. There are a couple of air bubbles but they are slowly going away. I am pretty happy about how it looks and im glad it will have some naked protection now. ill post some pics when everything settles.
