[PICS] The views from Apple (3D) Maps (Beta 1)

Did anyone else notice the iPad 2 banner in San Francisco. How Long has apple been working on these maps?

Ben Nevis. It appears to have 3D terrain for the whole world.

Where did you see that? Just that there's people in another thread claiming this is all the data apple has and it's not like they're throwing a switch to enable more.
 
The data usage is out of control I really thought Apple would make these maps mostly cached or offline. No idea how I could ever use this over 4G, it barely loads over wifi

I guessing just beta bugs, but 3d maps do not load for me at all...I see the buildings for second then just back to grey blocks.

Many people seem to get them to load with no problem, so I don't get it.

I realise that. Others were suggesting that Apple is not using any C3 data.

Unless they just bought it so no one else can use their tech.
 
You have to love it when apple releases a very early beta for developer testing only, and specifically states that the maps app has very little content at this stage but more will be added later, and still a ton of people brand it a fail and complain that their location isn't available in 3D yet 😀

It's like Da Vinci showing somebody their first sketch of the mona lisa in private, then the public seeing a screenshot and criticising him because it totally lacks colour + detail.

Wait for the public release. If it's still like this they deserve a serious kicking (never mind the content, the crashes are worse!). More likely they'll have fixed the majority of the issues and 3D will be available in a lot more cities 😉
 
Can someone post a 3D view of Singapore(Like Resort World Sentosa)(just checking if it currently has 3D, don't have a developer account so I can't check it)

It doesn't. There's only really Vegas, Sydney and San francisco in the beta. C3 mapped over 100 cities so those should be in 3D when it's officially launched as a minimum. Wait til then.

Here's a 3D view as it stands now. Terrain in 3D only, not buildings

Some pics of the only European city, Copenhagen. While that's nice (and a bit weird) I would rather see an official Apple Store 😀

The photos seem a bit old - missing a lot of new buildings and the messy construction of new metro lines. The old city core does look lovely though:
