Weird. Looks almost like it formed around something artificial.I went on a trip to Mono lake for my biology class, and I took this picture of a sand Tufa next to the lake.
Peabody Hotel in Memphis, TN. I was in Memphis last weekend for a friends wedding. I did some slight color modification in Gimp. The building had more of a yellow tint to it, but I like it better red.

Shutter/Aperture: 1/600 @ f7
They form around springs under the sand, and then the water that flowed into the lake was diverted so the lake level dropped and now the loose sand around it has been blown off of it.Weird. Looks almost like it formed around something artificial.

Dumb question: I ave the same camera, and just switched to an iMac after a lifetime on Windows. The software that came with the camera doesn't go up to OSX 10.4.8, and won't load. Any suggestions?
