Tomb Stones: Korean Style

Tpmbs-Stones.jpg

Fuji F31fd
December 25, 2006.
These are some high-end grave markers found next to a couple of mountainside tomb mounds. If the weathering of the pillar and figure can be used as a gauge, the tomb is quite old (at least 2 hundred years, if not more). I'm from Canada, so for me that's old stuff.

One of the unique features of most parks in Daegu are these rocky walkways. Based on the accupressure theory of health promotion, one limps (painfully) along these long lanes of longevity. Most often, one sees the elderly walk the path of pain. I do it sometimes, and man it feels great, when I stop.

Wouldn't mind something like that to walk on. But if they had this in Toronto, it would be covered in dog sh*t.

I was looking up at the sky today, which would have been practically cloudless if not for all of the airplane contrails...

Thanks. It's a nice lens. The bokeh is a lot better, that extra stop of light helps to get low ISO values.

With same scene and both lenses at 1.8, I noticed that the camera measures slightly less exposure time with the L. It's probably because of the reduced vignetting.

I'm not too happy with its sharpness. After some limited tests (text at little more than minimum focus distance), the L seems about equally sharp at f1.8, and slightly less sharp at f4. Since it's not a macro lens, it's probably just not optimized for such a short distance. I'll do some comparison shots in a more portrait like situation.

Having both of the lenses reveals the exceptional bang for the buck of the 50 1.8 :)

This shot was much more challenging than I thought. Not surprisingly the darn cat kept moving.

nice shot. I can never get a good picture of my cat He sits still all day except when I want to take a picture of him.

A great pic nonetheless! while I don't care much for cats, the eyes on this one really stand out

Thanks!

The other four pictures I took didn't turn out for precisely the opposite reason. I focused the camera on the cat instead of the eyes. They are OK pictures, but this one clearly stood out from the rest.

What a beautiful shot; you did perfect on the motion effect. One reason I like this more than other motion shots is you have the fence in front of it which adds to the already kind of "UFO" feel (Plus the blue hue).

I've commented this before on another motion shot but IMHO the shot would look better w/o all the lights on the right/left side. Just my 2 cents.

:)

I learned this the hard way when shooting insect macros. Sharp focus on the eyes can make or break a picture. I found it a valuable tip when shooting anything with eyes, to be honest

PD: If I posted at 11:50 pm and it's now past midnight, can I post another pic? It's technically a different day... I really want to illustrate my post with an example
