So my parents stopped by yesterday for a visit. My mom called on the way over and asked what kind of beer I liked, so I told her I prefer stouts or dark ales. She brings me my bery first Guinness. I dont know how this compares to any of the other variants, but it was good.

all others pale in comparison.

that is the king of stouts.

it begs the question how did you know you like stouts if that is your first one though?

That looks like the 'standard' Guinness.

Yes, this view is held by many, including my brother.

Guinness brews a more robust version - Guinness Foreign Extra Stout (there is a version at 6.5% ABV, and one of 7.%%) for the African market. It was spoken of in hushed awestruck tones when I was a student, something legendary.

I never actually saw (or tasted it) until abroad over the past year, and can warmly recommend it.

I’ve had plenty of other stouts, just never Guinness. I thought they also had a different stout besides this one

They do.

Oh my gosh this is so good.

Looks amazing; enjoy.

Sounds good. I'm a fan of their beers usually

Yeah, Sierra is pretty reliable, there's a number of breweries that mostly do no wrong in my book, just a few that come to mind: Sierra Nevada, Founders, Dogfish Head, and locally [to me] Cigar City.

You know, as long as it's in my wheelhouse (like not much of a fan of fruit infused IPA variants).

Yes all good breweries in my eyes. Ale Asylum and Karben4 are two of my favorite locals (admittedly I'm a little biased since my company distributes them, but haven't had much I didn't like from them)
