Not all of us view cars as a means to get from point a to point b. 7 seconds is pretty slow.

I could buy a volt and do most of my driving on electric... but what fun is that?

I couldn't agree with this more. I didn't buy my car for the gas mileage. :D

Not that slow for a 2litre diesel  my car is far more than just about getting from a to b but just because it doesn't burn 5 mpg doesn't make it not great fun !

The computer on my S60 (2.5T) says that I average 15-16 MPG. I hope its wrong, lol.
It's a nice car though.

I thought the Scirocco was rated around 51 mpg (imperial)? (5.4l/100) which is closer to 42 us mpg

also thought the 2L diesel was closer to a 9s 0-60.

The 140 BHP model is 9.3 seconds 0-60. The 177 BHP model does it in 8.1. He will be needing a 2.0 TFSI (210 BHP) to do 0-60 in sub 7 seconds.

Stats off the VW UK website

comparatively I'm sure the listed fuel economy ratings for those models progresses downward as well.

Point was, he's comparing a watermelon to an apple. they're not the same thing at all. not even remotely close.

I get 0-60 in 2.8 seconds & a top speed of 195mph. And if I concentrate on my driving:

From the last page the new 1 series looks absolutely terrible.

I think we may have reached the point where car designs are now at the peak of where they are going to be - so many new cars coming out look worse than the predecessor. BMW 1 Series, Nissan Micra, Vauxhall Astra, BMW 3 Series, Honda Civic all look worse IMO.

^That is beautiful.
Many thanks for your lovely comment!

Marcos GT? Seriously...I hope to see on in the metal some day. I finally got to see a Iso Grifo at our Santa Barbara Cars and Coffee, but the Marcos is IMO just the definition of Sexy.

Yep, the Marcos Mantula GT indeed has appealing curves - couldn't agree more ;-)
So glad you like it!
