What I'm wondering is what all you ppl do to be able to afford cars like this? You must have pretty decent jobs (or very rich parents), or in true American style you're all financing them and don't actually own them! 🙄

Yea, I don't like plastic- all of them have it. However, a lot of older cars with painted bumpers have chipping paint that does not look attractive.
You really have to sit in one to know what I am talking about. Its just so cool.

I've seen only one other MX6 on the road, and it didn't look like it was running too good. It was also this ugly shade of celery green. I didn't approve at all.
What happened to your friends car that it died in 4 years??

I fell in love with Land Rovers and Rovers years ago. A good friend had a 109 4cyl. Really just a big aluminum box on wheels and pretty gutless(great gearing and pretty good torque for grunt work but couldn't get out of it's way on the freeway then again it wasn't made for the freeway). BUT, that thing would absolutely go anywhere! We went on trips to Death Valley, Yosemite in the winter and one infamous trip down Hollywood Blvd with the roof removed and 6 or 7 of us whooping and hollering. I swear, we climbed up cliffs in Death Valley. That beast was scary in where it could go...."beast" well actually it's name was "Monst". Oh yes, his mother had a 109 a 6 cyl "Duke", his dad had a Rover 2000 TC "Teec" sedan (4 spd stick as I recall with leather, 4 whl disc brakes with a Dion rear end...inboard rear discs and a rather peculiar speedo....a ribbon). Oh yes, they also had a 88 Land Rover.....the family had just gotten for the younger son and it didn't have a name yet. When I first saw it all I could say was, "the bastard". Reason was it had a number of different body panels from various other 88's. Anyway, it stuck. The new Land Rovers/Range Rovers have come a long way. Think they got better when BMW owned them(think that Ford owns them now) and did a redesign and also new engine....BMW V8 as opposed to the old Buick variant that they had been using. Nice exteriors, great drive trains, and VERY nice interiors. My only gripe/complaint would be reliability. I think that they rank rather low in the JD Power customer satisfaction ratings. You might want to check on that b4 you buy. I see you're from CT. If you're interested in awd you might want to check out a Audi A6 Quattro (50 +k?) or a Subaru....Tribeca B9 (awd SUV) or a Legacy 2.5 GT (all the Subes are awd) would be nice, WRX STI would be even nicer😀 Cheers
BTW, my friend's family later picked up one of the early Mini Cooper S (can't remember the year...it had the 1275 engine, duh). I had "hand brake" turns demonstrated to me on the streets of South Pasadena. Wheeeeeee! They also got a Pontiac GTO with "tripower". I can't recall the year on the goat but I did ride in it once, fast......scary fast in a straight line of course. Interesting family, eh?🙂

The Current LR3s come with a ford based V6 or a Jaguar developed V8. I wonder how well the V6 preforms. It has 218hp at 4500rpm and its torque is 269 @3000 ft-lbs. The vehicle weights around 5880lbs which is a lot.
Other cars my mom likes are the XC70, XC90, MDX, Aviator, and GX470. We have the Volkswagen Touareg V8, the audi Q7 is basically the same thing only a tad longer and optional 3rd row seating and it costs more.
My mom hates the exterior of the Tribeca, but it does get pretty good fuel economy.

The transmission was acting up and he traded it in before it completely blew. He's pretty tough on cars but the MX6 fell apart especially quick. He had luck with a Saab - until it got hit. Gotta love driving in Philly.

I drove my uncles 2005 Altima 3.5 and I notice a lot of torque steer and I haven't even driven many cars in my life. It really needs to be AWD or RWD.
I also noticed that even the lightest touch of the pedal makes the car jerk forward quickly. Then again I am used to driving big hunky SUVs. My dads discovery you have to push the pedal pretty far before you start moving quickly, its so that you can have more control when driving slowly off road and you are driving over obstacles. 🙄
