I know what you mean by V4 but there is no V4 engine...maybe you're talking about an inline 4 or 4 cylinder engine?

now now i thought the same untill i took a look under the hood of my friends ford ranger. i was giving him the same speech about how there is no v4 untill ilooked at the engine block
4cil v formation

There's no reason why it isn't possible. Its a nice and compact configuration. But I'm guessing its more expensive to manufacture. Seeing as a 2.0 straight 4 isn't all that huge most car manufacturers don't bother. I believe there are quite a few motorcycles with V4 engines though, even V2!

Sorry, I see no V4. Just I4. Mind taking a picture?

Guess nobody saw my post.

THEY MAKE V4's FOR BOATS, OUTBOARD ENGINES, AND MOTORCYCLES

I saw your original post. Guess I should have been more clear about no V4s (in automobiles) :D .

My .02. Correct me if I'm wrong but I could swear that older Saab's had a V4. Sorry I can't come up with the year but they were very early examples, maybe 60 or 70's models. Additionally, if memory serves, they were two strokes as I remember adding oil to the fuel.

I think I deserve a "cookie" for that:D Cheers

sad, not a single picture on this page...

thought i would fix that.

ha, sorry. didn't mean to bum you out.

What's it like? Is it amazing... Oh i bet it is? Is it a manual? How does it sound, accelerate, feel when driving? Oh is the leather nice? oh man... Do you have the xenon headlights? do you plan on doing anything to it like exhaust?

You have no idea how jealous I am....

Some of the older SAABs (95s and 96s) had a V4 which they called a V8/2

1976 BMW 1502

Hi fellow forum '02er! I've got a 1974 2002 myself... currently "in storage" because I fried the starter and it needs a head job. Some time this spring I will get it in working order again and it will be an occasional driver for around the town.

Otherwise I drive an '07 Prius. A damn fine car if you ask my opinion. Beyond the hybrid-hype, it is a well appointed, comfortable, quiet car with Toyota quality and reliability. Well worth the money.

It's pretty obvious you guys don't get how the Volt works then. The engine doesn't power the car. Electric motors does. That is powered by batteries that can last about 40 miles. Then the ICE turns on and turns a generator continuing to power the vehicle and recharges the battery. The ICE never powers the wheels. Then when you go home, can plug it into your outlet to continue to recharge it. I am only quoting what GM said. So I am not just making the numbers up. It's hypothetical of course, but if you drive those distances it is technically what you would get.

But aren't there many concepts that claim unbelievable mpg? I'll believe it once I see it in the showroom.

Why is the steering column on the right hand side?
