Its an unusual combination mainly because its not available as an option from Apple. Nevertheless I bought a sport with white strap and ordered the black strap separately. I personally think the end result looks really nice, in fact Im glad I didn't get the SS as every pic I see of it is smeared in fingerprints.

In fact I think that Apple deliberately left this combination out as it might lure customers away from the SS and black sports band option. I mean, what other reason could there be? A silver watch with a black band is a classic combination.

I think this looks awesome! I was already thinking of that combination (although I like the white band on mine as well). Once these bands can be ordered in my country I will get a black sport band as well. :)

Thanks for this post! I have a 42mm WSB on order, and have always planned to switch it to a BSB, and am glad to see how nice it looks beforehand.

I did exactly the same thing, and it annoys me they don't offer this combination. Which black strap did you get -- with silver or space gray pin? I went space gray because I like how it matches the strap.

Mine has the silver pin.

I know there are threads for pics however this combination is quite specific and people may want to independently search for it.

Love my white strap as well though, it will be my summer holiday band

Curious if you can remove the pin. I ordered a blue band for my Space Grey and I want to put the black pin in the blue band. Anyone know if its possible without ruining the band?

Nice!

I suspect if that _was_ an option from Apple the SG Sport watches would be easier to get since that was the only sport option with black band.

It looks great. And this is coming from a SS BSB owner. The black band sets off the lustre of the aluminum finish beautifully. I did want SS for reasons other than looks so I can't say this combo necessarily would have tempted me from my final choice. But it does look like an ideal combo and should have been offered by Apple.

I think it looks very cool. Reminds of me of the first iphone a lot with its looks.

Maybe the fact that it is extremely reminiscent of an older, first-gen design style (aluminum and plastic, then glass, then aluminum and glass, now colored aluminum and glass) that's why they didn't offer it? There had to be some reason not to offer it. Apple doesn't usually make arbitrary design choices.

I'm pretty sure Apple didn't offer it in an attempt to drive sales of stainless steel, and extra bands.

I know I would have ordered this combination, instead I ordered a blue band and an extra black!

I've also gone for this combination and am also really pleased with it. It does look remarkably similar to the SS with black sport band.. a lot of my friends have asked if thats what it is. Its only close up that you can tell its the sport. Would definitely recommend getting the extra black band..

I've ordered a black sports band for my 42mm as well. Ordered it with white with the intention all along of switching it to black.

Looks great!

Apple should have had the watch orders done via a "Build your watch" website. ANY combo people wanted should have been allowed.

If I wanted a GOLD band on a Sport watch I should have been able to do it. I just have to pay for it.

Definitely not possible without ruining the band.

That's the same move I pulled- and in the end I'm very happy with it (still do not have the black sports band) in that if I had been able to get the black band initially, I'm not sure I would have gotten a second band (at least for awhile) to rotate styles. And now I really love the idea of having multiple bands.

I did the same thing as the OP. I ordered a white silver sport and then I ordered an additional back sport band. I really enjoy this set-up and I don't mind having the extra band...it allows me to switch back and forth just to change things up a bit!

Stunning combo and unique in that it contains only two tones: Black and grey. Classic minimalism.

I particularly like how the band and the screen flow together into one continuous piece, with what appears to be a silver-grey frame resting on top - like a buckle on a belt. Visually, it implies strength and a high degree of structural integrity.

IMHO, Apple didn't sell this combo out of the gate because they wanted sport customers to spend another $50 on a black band. Extra bands are definitely where the money's being made on the sport model.

Thanks for posting pics, I've been planning to order the black band as well. I have the white band right now . That looks nice.

Going abroad for a sun holiday in a couple of weeks so I'll be switching back to the white band while in holiday mode ☀️#☀️

Combo looks good. I've been toying with the idea of getting a black band to go with my white and pink sport bands.

OP - did you manage to ever try on a 38mm? Seems like that might have been a better fit given your wrist size.
