I'm at work right now, so if you can wait I will see what I have at home. I know I used Magnifique in there somewhere and that's how I got my menubar black. But I can't get to my home Mac for a few hours.

That would be great, many thanks! I'm calling it a night anyway, it's late here...

Here are my desktops :)

Well, both of them (the actual photos). I don't particularly care for the third, but that's just the standard OS X wallpaper and I don't particularly care for the standard OS X wallpaper anyway so it's nothing on you.

Thanks for the like on mine. ;)

What Geeklets/Yahoo Widgets are you using (if anything)?

I had some stuff for the HD, CPU and memory for a while but dropped it because I was duplicating the functionality of iStat Menus.

Yes there are three of them from here http://lightquick.co.uk/steampunk-themes-using-yahoo-widgets.html?Itemid=252

Bottom left is CPU and MEM dials, big middle one is moon phase, date etc. and top right is weather (barometric pressure, temp and humidity) :)

----------

Thanks, which one? I also like yours :)

Top left - the cityscape, nice.

Thanks!

The theme I am using with Magnifique is Black Mac OS X. Here's a link (my Dropbox), but I originally got it off deviantart.com I think.

By the way, here is an update. I actually found two applescripts for the word clock which will eliminate any cpu issues. Tried to find a font matching the one the use for the title screen of the Honeymooners. Close I think, but not the one. This is better though I think. I like Simple Floating Clock but it's options are limited.

EDIT: Link fixed! Sorry for any inconvenience, Dropbox was NOT playing nice last night and it took me this long to fix it.

No problem. Glad I could help!

Don't make the mistake I did though. I had this theme for a year or so but it would not color the menubar black. I tried various other apps and stuff to get what I wanted. Turns out that I had been trying to use transparency on my menubar on my Mac which cannot do this, thinking that the transparency would show the black of the desktop wallpaper. Once I finally figured out that I can't get transparency in the menubar on my Mac and disabled the setting…bam, black menubar.

Just something to keep in mind.

Also, the icons I use are from a different set in Candybar. If you want those, let me know.

It is confusing my brains out. If you have a PMG5, it should a gfx card that is CI capable and should be able to have transparency on your menu bar.

To keep the spirit of this thread, I am posting mine as simple as it is.

I do, but the card is the problem. You made me do my research all over again to find this again. The PowerMac G5 I have has the NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 Ultra. It IS Core Image compatible, but NOT completely capable. Thus, no transparent menu bar. This is the original card (my boss never got me a different one and I never asked) so until I get a better one I'm stuck.

When I originally got my dualie 1.8 it came equipped w/ the FX5200 - melted my brain for a few hours before I found that article too.

...Then I bought myself a 6800 Ultra DDL - what a card.

Yeah, I lost a few hours of work here one day trying to track down WHY. Chalked it up to another bargain trade off my boss made for the G5. Not that I am complaining (because it's mine now) but I would have preferred less ram and more power at the time. He chose max ram, but a single processor with a hobbled cache and throughput (whatever the term for that is, can't recall right now). It's a great Mac, but it's definitely underpowered compared to the other G5s.

A change for a little while…

The picture is the United States Coast Guard Cutter Barque Eagle at full sail at night. The Eagle, in case anyone cares, was built in Hamburg, Germany in the 30s. She was taken as war prize by the United States after WWII. She's metal hulled with a diesel engine, but she is a sailing ship. There are two others, one owned by Russia and another by a South American country (may be wrong on those).

The Coast Guard got her and she has been training Navy and Coast Guard sailors since the 50s in the ancient art of seamanship. She is one of only two sailing ships with an active commission in the US military, the other being the USS Constitution.

The original is to the right if anyone wants it.

Yep, I had the GeForce FX 5200 in my G4 and I didn't even know until last year when I upgraded my GPU that the menu bar could even be transparent. It just showed up that way after the install. And I've been running Leopard since late '09-early '10.
