:D

I have never heard of these folks before! Off to google to see if they will be touring in the states and a location that is near me!!!

I see they will be touring USA this month. They will be in Seattle on the 13th. My Aussie friends speak very highly of them.

I know he made a lot of contributions to some of their best albums but, I really don't care for Roger Waters -- even with any racism aside, he's a pompous ass. To me the best parts of Pink Floyd's sound are largely attributed to David Gilmour. There are some Pink Floyd albums (namely "The Final Cut") that to me are unlistenable, because they're not really Pink Floyd albums, they're albums where Roger took over and did his own thing.

Good riddance. They haven't done anything useful for centuries.

Pink Floyd have always been my favourite band, but sadly they have done nothing good after Wish You Were Here.

I completely agree with you. When David Gilmour took over from Syd Barret, that's when Pink Floyd moved away from the weird psychedelic stuff and created their musical gems. David Gilmour's guitar on Wish You Were Here never gets one day old.

Final Cut Unlistenable? Don't tell that to any die hard Pink Floyd fans! fyi..there were 2 Pink Floyd's. One with; Syd Barret (d.2006), Roger W. and David G. which dismantled after "The Final Cut" (Water's produced and Gilmour played on) in spring 1983. Rogers soon released "Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking" in 84' which began his notable solo career. Gilmour's famed "Pink Floyd" 87' release of "Momentary Lapse of Reason" repositioned them into the 90's and beyond carrying the Pink Floyd name, hence the shared writing between Gilmour and Wright.

btw..You can't mix Art and Politics! Waters is a talented pompous ass!

I don't know, I think Radio KAOS and Amused to Death did a reasonably good job mixing art and politics. Whether you like listening to them or not is a matter of taste.

As far as "antisemitic", the subject of BDS being antisemitic is up for debate – on PRSI. I do not agree with Waters on some things (like his opposition to the UK fox-hunting ban), and yes, he can be arrogant, but without him, "Pink Floyd" is not much more than a marketing gimmick. Gilmour is highly talented, but his work tends to seem a bit insipid to me. And with Rick Wright pushing them up, all "Pink Floyd" is now is Gilmour and Mason.

There were (roughly) three Pink Floyds:

- Waters, Mason, Wright, Barrett (65-68)
- Waters, Mason, Wright, Gilmour (68-83)
- Mason, Wright, Gilmour (84-14)

I miss the times when you spent hours at the record stores looking for CDs and looking at their covers and waiting for them to arrive. Music was alive back then, it meant something.
