I know the studios are taking a hit because of theater closings, but dang! -- $20 to RENT a movie? It would only cost me half that much if I saw it in an actual theater!

The movie won't cost $20 to rent if you wait until after the theatrical run would end. You're paying a premium because it's a currently-screening movie.

Given the average household size, $20 doesn't seem unreasonable. Especially since you get to bring your own popcorn.

But would cost me twice as much as I have a family of 4, so for me it's a steal.

Pixar is a Disney company, but iTunes is getting it before Disney+? Am I missing something?
Releasing "Onward" on Disney+ the same day would impact digital sales revenue.

I am surprised that Disney+ is getting it this early. Disney+ typically lags digital purchase by 3-4 months, a precedence recently changed with Frozen 2.

I saw Onward in the movies with my son... It will be a long time before doing that again...

Well, it's a nice movie as anything Pixar does but a bit bellow their best work.

Onward... worst performing Pixar movie ever. It did around $61.5 million in ticket sales in North America over 2 weekends. Sonic the Hedgehog did around $106.5 million over 2 weekends in North America.
We see almost all the Pixar movies. Not a single child expressed interest in this one.

If you are alone yes, but my family of 3 this is a much better deal. Love it!

Given the entire world crisis right now, I really wish Apple would lower newly released movie price from $6 to $3 rental.

I'm actually surprised: this feels pretty "generous" — other studios are charging $20 to rent current releases, so $20 to buy (which is the typical price) seems like a good deal. And coming to Disney+ so soon is icing on the cake.

I saw this movie in theaters the day after it was released, and the entire theater (not just this screening) was a ghost town. So I can see why they're doing this.

That shouldn't be a reflection of the movie. Sonic the Hedgehog was released three weeks earlier, and Onward was released right as the coronavirus began spreading rampantly in the US and large gatherings were being discouraged.

Right! Sell it, then stream it. Forgot D+ isn’t a sales platform. Thx.

Worst Performing Pixar Movie Ever?

Nevermind the global pandemic that has shutdown everything everywhere. I'm sure that didn't affect it at all. lol

welp, we took advantage of this last night and watched it on our big projection screen. we are a family of huge Pixar nerds, but all of us felt this movie was very predictable and not very entertaining.

It seems kind of paradoxical that the only way to watch it two weeks earlier is with iTunes, but the only way to get 4K is Disney Plus. I can’t help but feel like you get “punished” either way.:(

Does anyone have any info about the home release of the short that ran with Onward? I heard it was a Simpsons cartoon called Playdate with Destiny.

The Invisible Man is $20 to rent.
I’m not sure why that’s a better method than just allowing purchase for $20 with no rental option.
How many people will rent a movie for $20 and then buy the movie at a later date?

All the people who want to own it and aren't patient enough to wait a month or three.

If everything comes out early and they aren't making many new movies, what new things am I going to be watching once life gets back to normal? I'll wait for it to come to some streaming service I have access to...
