With the creator‑bundle announcement, I’m curious how many of Pixelmator Pro's new features will be gated behind a subscription. I’m also a little annoyed that the office productivity suite is included. If it stays in the bundle, I hope they’ll offer an à‑la‑carte option, since I don’t need or use Logic Pro or Final Cut Pro.
It’s like cable tv bundles: 100 channels you don’t want to get the one channel that you do.

making us pay for Apple Intelligence integration into pages, numbers, keynote etc is a dirty move . Especially since Google Gemini features in their Google suite can be used for free from any device, while apple suite is for devices that you already spend thousands of $ on.... that's dirty

Besides those features sound like Apple Intelligence integration to me, which not only comes in late and should have been here 1.5 years ago ago, but also was promised to come for dree
I find it interesting that the existing Apple Intelligence features for the productivity apps run on-device models, yet they feel the need to paywall them with a subscription. If so, that's dirty!

It's fair if 3rd party Cloud models are paywalled for token use.

Even if Apple paywalls access to their Private Cloud Compute is fair, that would indicate that they have failed at building competent models to run on-device.

I thought about that but I'm not sure whether it will be local ...or cloud compute

Apple today announced that Pixelmator Pro is coming to the iPad, complete with a new touch-optimized workspace, full Apple Pencil support, the ability to work between iPad and Mac, and all of the powerful editing tools from the Mac version.

Pixelmator Pro is a popular image editing app that was acquired by Apple last year. There is already a more basic Pixelmator app available for the iPad and iPhone, and now the full-fledged Pixelmator Pro experience is coming to the iPad.

Apple says Pixelmator Pro for iPad will be compatible with iPad models equipped with the A16, A17 Pro, or M1 chip or later on iPadOS 26 or later.

Here are some of the Pixelmator Pro for iPad features highlighted by Apple:
  • A full-featured Layers sidebar allows creators to use images, shapes, text, and video
  • Smart selection tools for isolating and editing specific parts of images
  • Advanced bitmap and vector masks
  • Super Resolution for intelligently upscaling photos
  • Deband for removing compression artifacts
  • Auto Crop with automatic composition suggestions
  • Apple Pencil support for pressure-sensitive brushing, plus hover, squeeze, and double tap
Pixelmator Pro for both iPad and Mac will be available through the new Apple Creator Studio subscription bundle, which in the U.S. costs $12.99 per month or $129 per year. A one-time $49.99 purchase option will remain available, and this will presumably extend to the iPad app. Some new AI features and content in Pixelmator Pro for iPad will only be available with an Apple Creator Studio subscription.

For example, in both the iPad and Mac apps, Apple Creator Studio subscribers will get access to a new Warp tool for twisting and shaping image layers.

What about Photomator? I need it more than Pixelmator

I would not be surprised if Apple offered an office suited on bundle while still including them with each machine.

Removing the "free" Apple non MacOS software just adds to Apple's bottom line as there is less cost in the device so the margin increases and then there is the revenue stream as folks buy the formerly free software. Win - WIN for Apple's shareholders and the "shaft" for the customers.

What free software have they removed? Pages/Keynote/Numbers is still available, the sub just ads some AI features. If Apple would go to a pay model, all of a sudden they are competing with MS' subscription model for office suites and people may just decide to forgo Apple's. Having a free office suit that is quite versatile and meets many users' needs is a strong selling point.

No word of the future for Photomator? 😫 I'd love an alternative to photoshop/lightroom and I miss Aperture!

I do this already with Pixelmator Pro on my Mac. I just use my iPad as an extra screen and I can draw and edit on app as if it was native.
