great

So far, two of the four applications I use on a regular basis have been updated for Mavericks (this and Final Draft 8 - well Final Draft say they are compatible I do not know if they did the App Nap etc..)

And layers - YAY!

I'm a Creative Cloud subscriber and primarily use Photoshop/Illustrator for my work, but I LOVE Pixelmator! It is amazing, how it keeps getting better and better. And costs so little, less than a months subscription to CC. I hope they are working on some kind "Vectormator" too, to replace Illustrator. I truly wish them to one day become serious competitors to Adobe.

That would be outstanding! I could see them become the next Macromedia if you will!

I'm absolutely stunned at how fast the Pixelmator team is able to crank out these updates, it's really fantastic.

Now give me some useful resizing on export features so i can use it to easily create assets, and I'll switch over to it full time.

For what it's worth, I updated iMovie 3 times on my computer this morning :p

Ha, this is crazy. Still can't download with the error "Your Apple ID is not associated with this purchase". I've got the receipt in front of me showing my apple id (I only have 1) and Apple has responded saying a lot of people are experiencing this with all updates.

The Apple Rep also said people are now forced to enter their account password for updates again when this was removed in past updates. An error on Apples part, wish I recorded the call.

LAYER STYLES?!!?!?!!

Are they compatible with PSD ones? I need to try pixelmator again.. if the tablet support and painting engine is improved since last time I might try weening myself off PS.

I've tried before though so I'm pretty sure I'm going to hit various insurmountable hurdles. :(

- Edit - Awww.. The layer effects aren't cross-compatible. If you save out as a PSD it bakes in things like drop shadows and strokes. It imports previously PS layer effected documents in the same way, baking in as it goes. I like it anyway - so close to being ideal.

Try this in pixelmator:

Command+Shift+V

The quote from the team is that they'll "have more to say about 16 bit support when the Mac Pro is released later this year" - so probably not yet, with this release.

Definitely good to know. If Adobe continues down their subscription services, I want to have options available to me. Pixelmator is coming REALLY close,

Not perfect, not a complete PS replacement, but impressive for the money.

+1 for the gray interface

I've got both Pixelmator and Photoshop CS5. While PS is my go-to editing software, Pixelmator just keeps getting better and better. I foresee a day when I may even discontinue my use of Photoshop since I'm not going to pony up for the subscription.
