Thank God!! I've started to believing what @i0n1c said.
My hopes are back.

Thanks for the post, just made my day ;)

Is anyone really surprised by this?

This is how it's always worked. The hackers find the exploits and release the jailbreaks upon major releases of iOS. They've always had a general policy of avoiding wasting their exploits on .x releases of iOS because they know Apple will close the exploits in the next major release and waste their hard work.

All this crap about jailbreaking being over is just scaremongering and FUD. Of course it isn't over, nothing is 100% secure after all.

yepp people just were spoiled with pod2g updating us on the status so much last year..when they hear the typical silence this year.. they flipped ****.

Time will tell/ Even the more open OS android platform is closed for google tv. they are just beginning to crack that. though we have been able to side load apps at least. :D

yeah! i hope it does.. i've wanted an atv for a while now.. but gotta have 1080 and a JB.. so i've been holding off. Maybe i'll finally get one :D

Don't want be the bearer of bad news but this news doesn't mean anything is being released. He says that they have a jailbreak method he is saving to find other methods for future jailbreaks. If they use this then apple is sure to close it in the future.

"The reasons it’s not released are because 1. releasing it would burn an exploit we want to save for ourselves so we can always get in to look at new firmware and help JB in the future"

Although I hope I am wrong...

Yes, but he also says part of the jb gets compromised w/ the newer fw if I remember correctly. So he would release it before it gets burned.

They'll JB on 6.1. This will be huge. I can't wait to get on iOS 6 on my 4S, and get Google Maps finally (5.0.1 JB now).

yepp and only one exploit..is needed for future research....

so they just need to replace that one.. and then the 1 or 2 more he was talking about they still need for the public release.
hopefully pod2g will be back on the scene long enough to help out with that

loling @ all the nay sayers on here the last few days.

I had the same thought.
Where are all the thread starters of the "There will never be an iOS6 jailbreak" and all those who posted agreeing with them.

Guess they just hide in the shadows.
But you can bet they will be first in line to accept the new jailbreak tools.

+100

My prediction a couple months ago was February 2013 for the jailbreak. I may be right.

I say about 2 weeks after 6.1 comes out. They will test the JB out and fix any bugs 6.1 might have caused, package it all up and release.

Not for nothing, but I think that in one tweet, planet being just killed all of i0n1c's credibility in the jailbreak community. Nobody will believe a damn thing he says now.

BL.

Well I don't think it kills his credibility, I think he is out of the loop in JB dev community. He's the type of person if he finds an exploit he is going to sell it to a government/private buyer than give it away. Which maybe how he supports himself 60-100k for a good exploit isn't bad.

I don't think people thought there wouldnt be one, just that it would be a longer...we had one last year at this time-ish for the 4s...perhaps pod2g did spoil us, though there was one post by a jailbreaker that said 6.1 was going to be harder to jailbreak.

Glad we finally have some news!

While we did have one around this time for A5 based devices last year, the 4S also dropped a month later than the 5 ... so if we're keeping track of time, we realistically should have seen the 5 jailbreak drop in December. That said, the wait time for an A6 and iPhone 5 jailbreak is looking to be about at least, at a minimum, 1-2 months longer than last years.

I fear it won't be long before we have to start waiting almost a year for newer hardware/iOS products.

I am finally thinking that too...I don't need nearly the updates that pod2g gave us, but one every few weeks is nice
