A Youtuber posted an interesting verdict:

Really good review. He was sold on Vue for some really good reasons. But his review of DIRECTV Now was BIAS because he was sold on Vue. I.E. He played down the introductory offer because he said it is really $60 which is too expensive. However, he knows the $35 is good until you cancel (grandfathered). Also, he mentioned the $5 HBO and MAX which is $15 each for others. Also, the free Apple TV is worth more then the 3 month service. My pick would be DIRECTV Now as a starter streaming App and after 3 months decide to keep it or move on. I suspect some of the features of Vue will come to DIRECTV Now sooner then later. Lastly, I might actually get both VUE and NOW if VUE carried more channels. In particular Hallmark which is a deal breaker for my wife. The VUE 5 streams and DVRE are pretty good.

I just dropped my Directv Satellite subscription of 14 years and moved to Vue on the new ATV4 that I got from DirectvNow. Loving the PS Vue service and especially the DVR and VOD library.

There are two significant pain points that are hurting me with the wife. (1) The guide view and (2) The FW/RW controls.

The guide is a mess, frequently freezes and doesn't respond to input. After entering a channel as a favorite, when I go immediately back to the guide, it freezes. I suppose it has something to do with having to move that channel to the front in the guide, apparently it gets confused. Also, several of my favorited channels are not moving from their default location in the guide.

Hopefully they eventually offer the ability in settings to use a traditional vertical scrolling guide with channels on the left and timeline across the top.

The transport controls need work. There are no thumbnails while fast forwarding (and rewinding) DVR and VOD content. If I'm watching a prerecorded show and need to skip through commercials, its a real pain to use a 10 second skip to get through 3 minutes of commercials. And if I click too fast and overlap the skips, the program crashes, forcing me to start all over again from the beginning. I'm not the only one right?

The other issue is that if you pause and swipe to FF/RW, there are no thumbnails to help you select the scene you will land on.

Anyone know if Sony is working on these issues for the Apple TV app? I understand the Fire TV app has much better implementation of these features. I don't want to use another streamer. I'm happy with my ATV4.

5 streams is whats puts PSVue over the top to be honest.

They learned from Netflix..... credentials sharing will not be allowed to lessen their revenue flow. :p
Learning from Netflix would be a good decision. I believe the CEO of Netflix said that he is not concerned about sharing credentials. Would be smart for every streaming service to pay close attention to the Netflix Model..... But only if they want a lot of subscribers :)

Netflix whizzes past 75 million subscribers thanks to record international growth

Account Sharing:

I believe HBO has also said they dont mind sharing credentials, and I don't believe they are hurting either.

Actually, that was in the article as well. HBO Limits to 3 streams and Netflix has 2 and I think 4 based on price. I think the CEO's of these two companies understand that the more people people that use and are happy with your service then the word spreads. Trying to control things like this does not help. Again, the success of Netflix should really prove this.

It actually makes certain things a pain. For instance, My Vue service I wanted to pay using a different credit card (another family member) and because it has a different address on it (which is where they snag your location from) when I logged in it says I am not on my home network.

Therefor I had to use a different payment method. Little things like this really irritates me.

I think Vue has to have a tighter reign on credential sharing mostly because they broadcast locals. I don't think they can come out and say "we don't care about account sharing" without drawing the ire of the locals they broadcast.

Apples and oranges as compared to Netflix and HBO.

Where are people seeing ps vue for $35?

So I signed up for the 7 day free trial of Playstation Vue. I must say that I was pretty impressed with the service. While using the app on my ATV last night, I did not experience any of the lags/freezes/hang up's that plague the DIRECTV Now app. I'm still on the fence about the channel guide though (I like it, but I think I prefer the DIRECTV Now guide a smidge more).

VOD appears to be about the same as what DIRECTV Now offers. I was hoping that Vue's VOD library would be a bit more robust to be quite honest. I do like the DVR feature as well; I'm hoping this is something DTV Now introduces relatively soon.

Considering that I have AT&T and can stream DTV Now without it impacting my data usage is probably the deciding factor here. Not that I stream video over cellular data all that often away, but it is nice to know that I don't have to worry about using large amounts of data if I'm watching a show on my phone when not on wifi.

I'm going to continue to make use of Vue until the 7 day trial is up, but I probably will stick with DTV Now for the time being (especially since I'm locked in to the $35/month 'go big' package).

With Vue you at least get VOD updated within 24 hrs of airing. That was my biggest qualm with DTVNow.

They all broadcast locals, all depends on your location, with that said. My location does not have any live local channels (only VOD)

I'm sold on the PS Vue. Other than a few minor glitches, I have had no issues. It could be a little more of a fluid interface and guide, but I'm not really complaining.

I've returned one cable box (out of 3), and I am about to return the other two once I get 2 more ATV4s. I'll stick with PS Vue until Hulu's live TV service arrives.

I've been using Vue for a little while now and I have to say, the mobile restrictions are killing me. I spend a lot of time at work and often want to catch the news or something when I'm having some down time at my desk. It's pretty insane that I can't use my own iPad to watch my own subscription at work. I really hope they wise up and change that soon because I'm really on the fence because of it. Also wish that it had picture in picture support and more local channels in my area, but getting rid of mobile restrictions would be huge. I'd keep the service with no hesitations if they did that.

Just found out another thing I can't believe you wouldn't be able to do with this service.

once you create your primary user name you CAN NOT change/delete or rename it.

just an FYI for anyone who just quickly enters something to move onto the next screen (like i did)
