I really like my new iPad but, sure wish it was more like a computer and less like nothing more than a larger iPhone. I can't stand having to sync to transfer audio and video content. Isn't the point of a tablet touch pad device to be a more portable "computer" anyway? All this syncing stuff ruins the experience.

I'll buy it from you and a deep discount. =D

Why did you buy it then?

Unfortunately OP, tablets that had computer based OSes failed. Microsoft tried primarily and didn't spend any time making Windows initiuative to the touch screen. Lazy fit a small motherboard behind a screen and hope for the best made it unusable. Also, the tech was still too new and expensive.

Why would you want all that power in a 10 inch screen? You'd get frustrated and would go back to a powerful laptop. Again, this is what happened before and Microsoft pretty much killed the PDA Market with a lazy mobile operating system.

I know iOS seemed like the lazy port, but it made more sense than to try and fuzz a sophisticated Mac OS X desktop OS onto a under powered device and sacrifice battery life. I'm sure over time iOS and Mac OS X will merge and everyones wishes will become true.

It's a trade off of balance. iOS offered that after Apple succeeded reigniting the smartphone with a simple OS which grew into a software powerhouse of expandable apps that were easy to access. I made the mistake of hoping of a slimmed down version of OS X and slatted Apple using iOS to make big iPhone. After using one, I saw why Jobs made the brave call to expand iOS.

That´s what I´m hoping too, but we´ll see what Apple will do...

Needs Flash, too. Then after that, maybe getting rid of this iTunes dependence and making it a full-fledged device that doesn't need to be babyfed by a desktop software suite.

OP: The iPad is what it is. Nothing will change in terms of the syncing stuff until the next OS release - if at all they decide to change it. If you wish to be more flexible (and I agree with your reasoning) then you should try other products - BlackBerry PlayBook perhaps?

IMO - if I used my iPad any more than I do now, I'd be complaining about the battery life being too short :p

Apparently you didn't read all the posts, because I said in post #7 that I received my iPad as a Christmas gift. It's doubtful I would have bought one on my own. I'd probably of rather bought a Macbook Air instead.

While I like the touch feature of the iPad, I only use the device for watching TV via the Sling app and Netflix content. I have the iPad sitting next to my Macbook Pro. Doing it this way frees up my Macbook Pro, so I can work on it without having multiple windows running. But what I really hate is that I spent a lot of money for iPhone apps and have to basically buy them all over again for the iPad, if I want them optimized for the larger screen.
