my understanding is that the hacking process is not the same.

Your understanding is wrong. You run the tiff exploit, then run iPhuc, then you install SSH with independence, then you sftp installer over and run it. The process is the same for both the ipod and the iphone...

Easy there. You don't want to upset someone in a position of power do you?;)

Either way, I feel they should remain separate because most users have either an iPhone or an iPod touch. They are most likely to head into the sub forums if they want to hack, and keeping them separate just makes the most logistical sense.

So, if I use:

https://www.macrumors.com/iphone/2007/10/22/ifuntastic-4-6-1-with-iphone-1-1-1-support/

I can use it to install apps onto the iPod Touch? Honest question. If the answer is anything but "Yes. definitely", then the procedures are not the same.

I'd be thrilled if we could combine the forums.

That program is irrelevant to the foundation of the hacking process as it is an automator aimed at iphone users. It does more than apply the hack to the hardware, it edits ring tones and has camera options apparently.

Honestly, do what you wish, but the baseline hack that I described in my previous post is the same for both devices.

I have no use for the aforementioned program, but if it requires the user to run the .tiff exploit through safari, then yes, it would certainly work for the ipod touch as well.

Hope that helps,

Jeff

I understand that you have no need for the app, but I think you underestimate the confusion that would be triggered and the number of 'will this work on the iphone' or 'will this work on the ipod touch' replies that any hacking thread would get unless the procedures are exactly the same.

That app (iFuntastic) appears to downgrade the iPhone to 1.0.2 and doing some magic and then reupgrade to 1.1.1. I would guess it does not work with the iPod Touch as a result.
