I find 50% still really bright so I have started turning it down to 35% and it's really hard to notice any bleeding at that level. Also the battery life of this thing at 35% is insane.

Ok here is my story. Got a White 64gb Verizon yesterday and got it home only to see like 6 bleed marks. Called up my Apple store and they said to make an appointment for today and bring it in for a replacement. I mentioned I had bought the last iPad and knew they would be out of stock. The girl said they had a separate stock for return and they were not for resale so just come on in.

So I went in today and meet the tech guy (who was awesome!) and was told they would need to order me a replacement. I told him about my conversation last night with the girl on the phone and he tried to play it off like he was out of stock but would take a look out back. Well after some "digging" around he found a exact replacement!

The bad news it to had bleeding. So we tried another, same deal. At this point we ran out of white ones and I said I would be fine with a black. Still more bleeding on the ones we looked at. Now we switched to AT&T and after 6 tries total we found one white one with no bleeding and I was brought out back to see for myself in the bathroom with the lights out!

So I am all set but Apple deff has more pads in stock than they may be letting on so keep trying folks. So good news for me, but I feel bad I caused 5 other folks to lose out on pads that would be released tomorrow if they didn't care about the bleeding.

If a LCD screen is pinched which causes a bright spot, I'm unsure what's going to happen to relieve this, unless the glass at the front moves.

Remember the screen is GLUED in place not screwed down. It is a good possibility that after a few weeks the pressure on the screen will tend to even itself out due to the inherent plasticity of the curing glue . In other words the pinch points from being pressed into place will tend to go away. Mine is looking better also.

It's pretty shocking how ubiquitous the light bleeding problem is on iPads. This is certainly a manufacturing problem that needs sorting out.

Mine didn't fade. I went to replace it at the Apple Store today. I tried 4 new ones and none of them were perfect so the Genius gave me the best looking one and said if/when Apple does something about the bleeding that he would make sure I got a new one. Syncing up the new one as I type this.

This is the exact reason I didn't order one from B&H Photo last Sunday at 6:59am.

were they easily willing to open up 4 different ipads? I might have to do the same next time I go to exchange mine cause I've been through 3 already, all with problems and its a pain having to go back every time.

Yep! The genius told me he would open up as many as I wanted, but he said that it was clearly not an isolated incident and that I should take the best one and wait for apple to do something.
