I think he was referring to the Quartz Graphics Test results I posted. I was addressing an earlier post of yours in which you were questioning why your Quartz performance was lower than other machines and my point was that, you're right, your scores are low because of your graphics card.

possibly. but looking at POLOgt's XBench, his scores are similar to mine, and he has a 30" as well looking at his sig

I have heard good things about the OCZ SSD. What is your boot time?

From "chime" to desktop its 17 seconds :D With the western digital 320 HDD it takes 29 seconds

PS. have 16GB RAM installed, so not sure if this affects boot time, in terms of the MP checking/addressing the DIMMS

I think my low quartz scores are due to the 30 ACD I'm hooked up to. more pixels etc to calculate and project

i only have a single quad, but i have two monitors (1600x1200 and 1680x1050) hooked up to my 2600XT and my scores are also in the 220ish range, so that makes sense, i guess (although the test only shows up on the main monitor)

i think i'm the overall winner so far...

Geez man! Those disk test results are insane. Sadly for me, It'll probably be another year or two before I buy a SSD. I know my 8800GTX is faster in some respects than the newer 8800GT, but I wonder why I'm scoring so high in the text test. My score is almost 6x as high as the 8800GT.

I attached my full XBench,

My configuration for this test:

Nah, get the OCZ Vertex 120 or 250GB :p:D;)

I think the OCZ Vertex is an amazing drive. I probably would have gotten one if I had the extra $$. But does your computer really take 17 seconds to boot from chime to desktop? My X25-M takes no more than 8.

Either drive is gonna be blazing fast for your boot boot/apps drive. If you need insane write speeds, get OCZ Vertex or Intel X25-E. I personally don't have any scenarios where I need the drive to have those sustained write speeds. X25-M still writes faster than any 7200 RPM drive out there, and that's good enough for me.

The larger capacities alone makes the OCZ Vertex worth getting, I think. 80GB is sufficient for what I do, but I know there are plenty of people out there who wouldn't find that so... especially laptop users who don't have the option to add a few cheap 1TB+ disks.

Yeh. you drive is pretty fast. maybe mine takes a little longer to register the RAM? I have 16GB, you have 10GB. Not sure if this makes a difference

Thanks :D It looks very similar to mine, the quartz test and esp the text scores. I sure its because we have 30" ACDs hooked up. Some of the others are much faster because they have smaller/lower resolution screens

sparkie & aibo - which video card are you running?

Also, someone is referencing an 8800GTX . . . but Apple sells a 8800GT. How does one use an 8800GTX?

i'm running the standard, humble ATI Radeon 2600XT. Aibo is running the 8800GT i think. the guy using the 8800GTX has it in his Hackintosh

Yup... 8800GT here (and 4870 on order).

I've since upgraded to 14GB RAM but my xbench scores stayed the same.

Upgrade to an SSD. It will dramatically up your scores and performance responsiveness. you know you want to :D:D
