Anyone who cares about video and audio playback uses Infuse. Plex **** the bed with their tvOS app years ago and I'm never going back to it. Great server though.
Can't speak for tvOS since I barely use Plex on it (iOS/Mac/Android/Windows, sure) but I feel like Infuse is better for some people because it may play better with bad / misconfigured networks or connections - and I mean at the serving end.

I'm a @firecore Infuse loyalist but use Plex on other systems when not available. UI for Infuse has been much more advanced for a while but glad Plex is catching up.

Well installed it.
Client UI update… well they meed to handle server side improvements:
HDR mapping, sound dying in the middle of a movie, lack of proper direct play (no transcoding), etc.

After what I’ve seen over the past few months, I’ve stopped buying movies like I used to. The whole point of this kind of entertainment was to escape reality and immerse myself in a fantasy where I could choose the emotions I wanted to feel. Hollywood seems to have taken that away unless we agree to think like they do. On the bright side, at least I’m saving more money each month. 😏

It would be nice if the update included making it work reliably on the Apple TV. I have to use Infuse, as everything I play in Plex is out of sync. People have been complaining for years, but nothing is done. Wish I hadn't paid for the lifetime pass now. They ignore serious bugs and use development hours on bells and whistles.

I like Plex for its ability to take care of the artwork and metadata, so that I don't have to manually do it every time I want to add content.

I don't like that the video often cuts out on Plex whereas with Infuse, it plays smoothly.

I don't care about the VOD with Plex. Seeing the offering doesn't bother me. I understand it happened so that they can try and grow subs and lifetime members.

anyone who has any sense will already be using Infuse as a plex client app on apple devices.
it's infinitely better in every way, and as a bonus it actually plays content correctly, unlike the plex app with it's "fake" dolby vision.
Infuse is great. The only missing feature from the native Plex app is support for Plex profiles!

I'm quite happy with jellyfin in a docker container on my Linux server, then infuse to access from the appleTV. It's not fussy at all, so clean and simple. And one infuse license hits all my devices.

This is so bad, no play or shuffle button, in grid view 3 large items instead oft he way it was, now it is so big with wasted space on each side, so many more clicks to access libraries, the player info is terrible, on the current player you swipe down and see tech info and everything ,this is a joke.

I just want to know how they have access to all 3 seasons of Squid Game 👀

I ave no idea how so many people can have out of sync audio, for me it works perfect. Loves the metadata management and adding posters.
Could I ask for something, it would be the ability to remove movies and TV-Shows from "Recently added", or have them automatically removed from there when I have watched them.
Looking forward to this update and never watch VOD and remove it from library and the A-TV app.

Love plex. Works perfect everytime. If there are things people don’t want or use. Don’t use them. You can edit the side bar and have only your personal content showing if you don’t use the other stuff.

yes, they aren't interested in pushing your own content to be front and centre. it's now all about the VOD they want to push to you - and all the tasty data they capture from you in the process.
It's very easy to set Plex so that you never see any of that...

As a long time Plex user, I truly wish they would stop messing around with the app. Over time it's become so bloated and full of 'their' junk. I don't want all the on demand stuff. I want it for my local content only.

If my TV had a native JellyFin client I'd jump immediately over to it.
I used Air Video server for as long as I could, mostly because of its bare bones design/interface. Resisted Plex for a long time but finally gave in. I like it fine, but you're right, it's getting too bloated. Wish there was something in between Plex and Air Video but haven't given it time to look.

This confuses me a bit. I too hate their on demand stuff… which I saw for all of 5 seconds before simply unpinning it from the menu. You don’t need to show anything on Plex you don’t want to. I’m failing to see the problem.

Really explain this process on the new App please

Welp - I've uninstalled Plex on our Mac mini media server and as we have an Apple TV, I've just installed the official JellyFin app. It doesn't feel nearly as polished or as feature rich as Plex but I'm so over being forced to accept more and more online streaming garbage and the push towards social media.

I'll soldier on with JellyFin as I think this is the straw that broke the camels back.

I still miss Boxee...
