The yearly cycle is deliberate, because most people are either locked in or accustomed to replacing their phones every/every other Fall
I'd have to disagree in this. Good marketing can easily overcome technologivsl inferiority. Look at Apple's pricing on storage. It's more expensive than virtually all the competition. It isn't really marketed as superior or even different hardware. And yet it still sells. But one example. One would really be impacting the other.
Declining Sales maybe?
Not sure you can just blame bad marketing on the downfall of BlackBerry or Palm. I agree that marketing plays a role, but certainly the actual product plays a good role as well.I'd have to disagree in this. Good marketing can easily overcome technologivsl inferiority. Conversely, one can have vastly superior hardware (look at Microsoft with their surface) and still struggle in the market. Again, much to do with marketing as well as an interim that Apple has built in the market for years.
Blackberry and Palm didn't react fast enough to a changing market. Microsoft didn't either and had to purchase a manufacturer just to keep some relevance. Not sure you can just blame bad marketing on the downfall of BlackBerry or Palm. Right, so their products (in the changing environment) affected their profits.Blackberry and Palm didn't react fast enough to a changing market. Microsoft didn't either and had to purchase a manufacturer just to keep some relevance.
I'm scratching my head here a bit because I don't even know where blackberry or palm came into the picture. I simply gave you examples of how profits and top of the line hardware dint necessarily go hand in hand and how good marketing can help overcome. If you took that as me saying they never do, than you either misunderstood, or I wasn't clear enough. Not sure you can just blame bad marketing on the downfall of BlackBerry or Palm. You provided an example of it not necessrily being connected one way (as in good things not really leading to windfall all the time), while I provided examples the other way (as in bad things leading toward losses and at the very least not setting profit records) which is somewhat different.I'm scratching my head here a bit because I don't even know where blackberry or palm came into the picture. I still don't understand the need for your example because it's out of context from the point I was making. Anyway, moving on...You provided an example of it not necessrily being connected one way (as in good things not really leading to windfall all the time), while I provided examples the other way (as in bad things leading toward losses and at the very least not setting profit records) which is somewhat different.
Yeah but 6s design isn't great, and the 7 isn't shaping up to be any different. The Gs7 is an awesome piece of hardware (can't say anything about software), and Apple really should put more effort into their designs.Apple is doing fine. Don't be mislead by 'innovation' with other vendors... it's a numbers game to them, all about smashing the cores, ghz, bazillion GB ram, futuristic features to look better than their competitors(Apple)... Apple will always have the upper hand, they aren't in this race, they focus on user experience, they have the software/hardware optimised to work together perfectly, the eco-system etc... and will always come out on top.

Apple just doesn't care about amazing people anymore; they got comfortable and it shows.
But clearly one is revolutionary while the other isn't.The Samsung phones haven't changed a whole lot throughout the years either. The only thing they've done is less rounded 4 corners. Moved from plastic to metal and glass back. And offer an Edge model with a curved display (but still offer the same typical Samsung design in the non Edge version.) All their designs have just been slight tweaks over the previous one through the years. Keeping the same overall look.
iPhones have been no different. And the 7 will be a slight tweak from the 6 era design.

Apple is falling behind by having record breaking profits?
Last quarter reports that are on record are not record breaking? It's far from record breaking with the 6s....

You're using the verge which has an extreme Apple biased? Such a good source..... Bloomberg perhaps but not the verge.....
Seriously? That's what you are going to try to deflect or spin reality with? Come on now, that just completely shot any credibility that might have been behind anything you might have said. You're using the verge which has an extreme Apple biased? Such a good source..... If those iPhone 7 leaks are the real deal, then why should Apple wait until September? Apple is falling behind in the smartphone market. Competitors like Samsung make very innovating products, like the S7 with GearVR. Maybe Apple can boost iPhone sales with an early release of the iPhone 7 along the SE. What do you guys think?
